To buy or not to buy?

We did get a lot of sunshine yesterday and showers in between.

It was much the same weather this morning as it was yesterday, sunny and cool. But as soon as we started walking the clouds came 🙂 But I’m happy as long as it doesn’t rain. I’m planning on buying a new lawn mower today. It costs so much to repair old machines that it is cheaper to buy a new one. I remember the days when it wasn’t. But then again, machines didn’t break down that often either back then. I’d rather have an expensive machine that doesn’t break down than a cheap one that always breaks down. Unfortunately it seems most people in the world want it the other way.

Anything can be a fun toy 🙂

Can You see anything else than Spaniel in this face?

So what kind should i buy? I’ve never really liked the petrol driven ones because they just make too much noise but they are effective that’s sure. I have one without engine but that doesn’t work well unless the grass is dry and we haven’t had dry grass in weeks now 🙂 But it is great when it hasn’t rained for a while, it is actually easier to mow with that one than the engine mower I had.

Then there are those electric ones. Cordless and with a cord. The cordless is very good but costs a fortune and since I doubt they have higher quality than any other machine I really don’t want to pay too much. I think they put an extra tax on those because of the battery, it isn’t environmentally if the battery is tossed out in to the nature. But I doubt that anything tossed out into the nature is environmentally 🙂 🙂 🙂

I tried to leash Sune to Hector yesterday and it worked great!

I’ve had electric mowers with cords before and was quite happy with them. The only thing is that one has to plan how to mow, it is so easy to cut the cord if not thinking while mowing 🙂  One kind I like is called Flymo, it hovers above the ground at the same time it cuts the grass. It is soo easy to mow with that one. I can push it in front of me with only one finger. But there is a slight problem with it, when it hovers above a ho,e in the ground it sort of works the other way, then it becomes a vacuum cleaner 🙂 🙂 🙂 I do have lots og holes in my lawn.

I tried the same thing with Nova this morning. She does need some training even if it did work but not as good as with Hector.

Unlike the others who are afraid of cows, Sune was really interested.

Thunder clouds passing by yesterday evening.

The other kind is like any mower really, the difference to Flymo is that it can cut really high grass, up to 40 cm (16 inches). I rarely have that high grass though so I’m not sure that’s a reason to buy one 🙂 🙂 🙂 But I’m pretty sure it will be an electric one with cord and I have lots of cord to use after buying all those Christmas lights 🙂 There’s only one thing that might stop me today, I really don’t like leaving little Sune in the dog yard yet. I know he can walk in to the dog house if it starts to rain but will he?

Mushrooms are popping up everywhere now.

Since Nova can’t be anywhere close when I have to vacuum the cottage I placed them all in the dog yard the other day and I don’t think Sune left the dog house at all during that time to be honest, Nova doesn’t and he is where Nova is 🙂 Well it is time for breakfast and then I’ll have to decide weather I’ll buy a new one today or not.

Have a great day!

  1. Hi Christer,
The picture of the three boys walking down the road with Sune attached to Hector is priceless. Nova might be a bit too active to attach Sune to her just yet. It’s a bit like asking the 3 year old sister to look after her 1 year old brother. Hector was a good choice.

I love my cordless rechargeable lawn mower. Mostly I love it because I don’t have to use it too much. I’m not sure the battery is removable by ordinary mortals so is less likely to end up in the environment unless I throw the whole lawn mower away. It weighs 72 pounds so I’m not going to be throwing it anywhere. 🙂 Oddly enough, even though it weighs that much it’s really easy to push around.

There have been a few mushrooms here and there around my neighborhood but now that is has been dry of several weeks they have disappeared. Except in my plant containers. The bagged soil that I used to fill them must have had mushroom spores in it because there were some fine examples growing alongside my tomatoes and peppers. They looked like shiitake but I wasn’t sure.

It’s sunny and warm here. Enjoy the day!

    • Hi Caryn!
Isn’t shitake the mushroom they grow in mines? If it is I doubt they would grow in a pot 🙂 🙂 🙂 There must have been a lot of spores in the branches I made wood chips from, because I usually have lots of mushrooms growing around the pond 🙂 🙂 🙂

You’re right about Nova and Sune leashed together 🙂 She tried to adjust to how he walked but he runs and stops all the time 🙂 hector managed that much better. I’ll try Orvar next time.

I did buy a nice electric lawn mower but with a cord. I got a chance to try it before the raining started again. It works really good and weighs almost nothing. I’ll show it in tomorrows post.Mine is much easier to throw than Yours 🙂 🙂 🙂

We have a mix between heavy showers and sunshine and in between that kind of drizzle that sort of gets in the clothes in a second 🙂

      Have a great day!

  2. Christer!!! The photos of Sune leashed to Hector and Nova are precious and priceless, I so love it. What a great idea. Sune’s spaniel ears are very striking! good luck with your mower decision.

    • Hi Robin!
It does look nice doesn’t it 🙂
I got the idea from a friend that told me that she once had a German shepheard that had to hold the leash to the new puppy, otherwise they never would have gotten anywhere 🙂

I’m very happy with my new mower, but it rains all the time so I’ve only gotten a chance to try it outside my kitchen door 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  3. Christer,
I love Hector walking Sune. What a great picture that is and what a smart idea. Sune is cute almost beyond words. I especially love his face.

Nova gets to be the role model! I bet a few months ago you wouldn’t have believed it.

    • Hi Kat!
I got the idea from a friend, that had to do so once because otherwise they never would have gotten anywhere 🙂
he does have a cute face 🙂 It looks like his body will be more of a Bernese mountain dog’s though 🙂

No I never would have guessed that, in a gang perhaps 🙂 🙂 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  4. Get a power mower that pulls itself. Mine worked really well and then died after 9 years. Photos of his magisty are wonderful today Christer. Anything works as a chewy. He is a beautiful dog.

    • Hi Z&M!
I think You were just lucky with that one 🙂
I have a new one here at home and it cuts the grass good, but I’ll have to push it 🙂

Yes anything is good for chewing on 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  5. I just love the photos of Sune walking down the road tied to Hector. He looks so sweet.
and the ones with them playing with the football…life is indeed good at your home. 🙂

    • Hi Cindi!
Hector and Orvar takes turns on who’s walking Sune now 🙂 Orvar finally understands how to handle Sune’s jumps and turns 🙂

      I can’t complain anyway 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  6. I love my electric mowers so much that I have two. The gas ones have become too heavy for me to do my whole yard, but the electric ones are like working with feathers. I would be interested in the one you say will handle really tall grass because my back acre can get really tall. The grass is short, then we have several rainy days in a row and the grass is up to my knees! It’s always something; no?

    • Hi Sharlene!
It’s actually harder to use a petrol driven one that drives itself than pushing those light electric ones.

The one cutting high grass is the one I bought and I know You’ve already seen it by now. I always try to buy Bosch products, they do last so much longer than other brands.
Thankfully my grass grows slower than Yours 🙂 🙂 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.
