In April weather can change within a minute.

The sun has been shining all day, all day until we stopped working that is 🙂 🙂 Then the rain and snow came. The temperature dropped from 12C (54F) to 1C (34F) in less than one minute.  The roads got slippery and exiting to drive on all the way home 🙂 🙂

They say the Inuits has a hundred words for snow (well it turns out that they had picked names in different dialects for the same kind of snow, so it wasn’tt completely true) and I think we come rather close to that as well. Today we had marble snow. Looks much like hail but actually is snow and it is soft when hitting unlike hail that can hurt rather bad.

We don’t get marble snow that often and I have always wondered how it would look if we only got snow in that way. Must look much like those tiny pieces of Styrofoam one always can find in packages 🙂 🙂 🙂  The weather was so boring that I didn’t even bring my camera om our walk today, but I have plenty from yesterday and some days back.

It is time to make a pot of tea, a couple of sandwiches and then I’ll watch Friends on tv. They send an awful lot of pay channels for free on tv right now and I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much garbage in a very long time. So called Reality shows all day and all really bad. I have to say that this free look in to pay tv just scares me away from it 🙂 🙂 🙂

Have a great day!

  1. amazing extremes in temperatures! We are in that right now as well, 15 celcius right now dropping severely to snow and ice pellets tonight.I have to sayI don’t mind our weather, its never boring.Hope you find somehting to watch, its much the same here, we have so few good shows to choose from we resort to DVD viewing mostly.

    • Hi Laurie!
It just happened so fast! I looked at the thermometer in the car and could see how quickly the temperature dropped 🙂

I just wish it didn’t snow, otherwise I don’t mind any kind of weather, at least most of the time 🙂

I have seen the Bg Bang Theory for the first time in my life and I have to say it had its bright moments 🙂 🙂 Otherwise nothing wort watching I’m afraid. Dvd’s are always a better option it seems.

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  2. hi christer! we rarely get marble snow here. it usually comes in spring. today is 83 degrees again! we have high winds and bad storms on the way! joyce

    • Hi Joyce!
No marble snow for You today then in that heat 🙂 It is unusually early isn’t it?
I guess You’ll have thunder as well then. I do hope You won’t have any tornadoes! I’ve read about those in Texas and that is scary!

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

Skall försöka hinna kika in i din nya blogg idag!

      Ha det gott!
      Christer.

  4. Hello Christer, too bad about your snow and cold! It is really hot here today..87 degrees F, with thunderstorms predicted for later. I agree with you about the garbage on cable; I watch very very little tv. We record the three shows we like, and watch later so we can skip through the commercial. The tv is always off except when my husband comes home. He doesn’t mind watching some of the crappiest stuff, lol! By the way, I always like your photos of the moon in all its very stages. And today the photo of the frog in the water is great! Hope he survives the marble snow!! Take care~!

    • Hi Robin!
I really don’t like this snow but it is April and that’s usually the kind of weather we’re having this month. But I have to say that I really wouldn’t want 87F this time of year either 🙂 🙂 🙂

Nothing they’ve shown so far have convinced me to buy extra channels 🙂 Not even the Big Bang theory even if it is rather fun 🙂

Frogs survives everything change in our weather 🙂 But if You look closely You’ll see that it actually are two frogs 🙂
and it is impossible to see too many photographs of the moon 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  5. Hi Christer,
You have double decker frogs with your weather? I suppose we do too but I haven’t seen them, only heard the spring peepers.
I went out for ice cream today in the 87 degree Fahrenheit temperature. Lovely. When I came back I checked my friend’s time in the Boston Marathon. She’s been running for over 3 hours in this heat and is only just past the half way point. I hope she is careful. The worst part is still ahead.
I hope your ice cream was as good as mine. 🙂

    • Hi Caryn!
I guess the early spring weather brought them out but I am surprised that they continue now when the weather is as bad as it is. I can hear them in the early morning and late evening now 🙂

I hope Your friend didn’t get a heat stroke or something as bad!
It wasn’t the beat ice cream but still very good 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

      • My friend pulled out at the 20 mile mark (30K +/-). I think she had done Heartbreak Hill and a bit more and that finished her. She saw her family at the 20 mile station and started to cry. They sat her down and gave her a slushie (shaved ice with a flavored syrup). She thought she would try to walk another mile but she couldn’t walk in a straight line. That was enough. I think she did very well considering she is not a full time runner.

      • I think she did the right thing, it isn’t healthy running in those temperatures!
Long time since I had a slushie 🙂 I liked them but they never seem to have been especially popular here. I think we just have to cool summers for that here.

        Christer.

  6. I like Mr Froggy in the one photo. I’m not sure what marble snow looks like. More ice than snow maybe. We gave up on the showtime tv movies. They keep repeating the same shows so it got boring. Why pay the extra $5 a month? So we canceled.

    • Hi Z&M!
It’s actually Mr and Mrs frog we can see in that photo 🙂
I’ll show marble snow in todays post. Looks like hail but doesn’t contain any ice at all.

Nothing they have shown so far has convinced me to buy any extra channels 🙂 🙂 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

      Christer.

  8. We got hale the other night. Ping Pong ball size, the kind that hurts 😀
Most of my dogs were ok because I had turned up the TV loud to drown out the storm but Rosie obviously could still hear it and was trembling. I held her and she just licked me frantically, poor old girl.
I agree that most of TV is awful so I rent a lot of DVD’s. Right now I’m watching “Dexter” have you seen that? It’s about a serial killer that “kinda” has a heart?!?!? weird but I’m enjoying it.

    • Hi Cindi!
Thankfully very little hail here and only the small kind. But very big marble snow instead. They have a sort of soft sound when they hit the windows, it’s actually kind of nice to listen to 🙂 None of my dogs get scared by the sound of hail though but thunder is a bit scary for Hector.

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  9. Christer…did you SEE our baseball size hail here?? I couldn’t not believe the size of it…it smashes car windshields…and can knock a person stem winding…as they say..

    • Hi Mona!
No I only heard of golf ball sized ones. It really is fantastic that no people die while being out in those storms! The biggest I’ve experiensed is golfball sized and that was nasty enough.

      Have a great day!
      Christer.
