Plastic bottles are noisy :-)

The clouds before yesterdays thunderstorm.

It wan´t much of a thunderstorm yesterday to be honest. Every time I thought it had ended it mumbled a couple of times more. But it´s better to be safe than sorry. But we had rain and lots of it. This is typical summer weather here in Sweden, some days of hot and sunny weather so ones hopes rises but mostly rather cold and lots of rain. Except if one lives out in the archipelago, they can have fantastic weather all through summer, but that also often means draught and problems with the wells.

But I managed to get some photographs on our walk before it started. All lying photographs will get bigger and hopefully better if You click on them.

Novas new favorite toys are plastic bottles! She runs around like crazy chewing on them or just wants to have a struggle with me. It´s not so annoying in the beginning but those bottles are rather noisy after some time of chewing and they are especially noisy if one drops them down the stairs 🙂 🙂 🙂 She´s having so much fun that I just can´t take them away from her 🙂 🙂 🙂 But I put down my foot when she wants to bring them up in my bed 🙂 🙂 🙂

Soon I´ll start showing You the results from the projects (like propagation) I´ve been writing about here. Some show good results, some are failures and one shows nothing at all yet. I´ll also show You the propagation with the blackberry I´ve written about also but never shown any photographs of. I think it´s a success You see but I can´t be certain yet.

My blue geraniums, well a few of them anyway 🙂 🙂

My rose with no name. I think it is an Alba rose but that´s all.

Rhamonda myconi, a cousin to the African violet.

But now it´s time for a couple of sandwiches. I couldn´t find the black mould cheese I like so much but I found a sibling to it, white mould but from what I can see it´s not a brie or camembert. I think I´ll have some tea with that as well 🙂                                                          Have a great day!

  2. hi christer! beautiful photos again! i love the one of bertil. you should freeze one of those bottles with water in it. dogs supposedly love chewing on them when they are frozen. it keeps them busy and they don’t make as much noise. it is really good in hot weather too. teddy would never play with one though. chows don’t really play and they never chew stuff! joyce

    • Hi Joyce!
He is a cute little cat but something isn´t as it should with him. He is sort of “off”, I really can´t describe it better. He even lets me hold him now and again and that is very uncommon. But I can´t find anything wrong with him?

My friends fills those bottles up with water and throws them so their dogs can chase them but I´ll try freezing the water and se how she reacts 🙂 Thanks for the tip!

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  3. I never tire of your photos! I actually looked up the Swedish Drever yesterday (they seem quite popular in Canada) and can see how they are close to the daschunds in appearance. I could not see how short Hampus’ legs were in the photo from the other day. If your lovely blue geranium a Johnson Blue? I found several lovely blue ones when I did a search for cranesbill. I tried growing Johnson Blue when I was married but we had so much shade from the huge trees (okay by me) that it was not happy. I went to my favorite thrift store the other day and got a gorgeous book on roses. The title is The Rose Bible and the photos are gorgeous but the book is also informative. I used to have a collection of books on David Austen roses but they disappeared during the divorce, sadly. Oh, you mentioned brie – my favorite cheese. Have you ever tried it on a sandwich, preferable on a rye or pumpernickle bread, with very thin slices of apple? Yummy. Now I need lunch too! Bye.

    • Hi Nancy!
Yes they are very close to a dachshund and they used to mix them a lot back in the days. It´s a fantastic hunting dog but it´s very slow and can keep on for way to long 🙂 🙂 🙂

It´s not Johnson Blue but it has almost the same shade of blue. It spreads way to much here so I pull up lots of them every year. Now they have started to spread out into the forest 🙂 🙂

I know of that rose book and it was very popular over here too. But now we have a couple of books about roses that can take our climate. David Austen roses are beautiful but most of them aren´t hardy enough for us.

Yes brie with apple on pumpernickle is a favorite of mine 🙂

      Have a great day!

  4. Hi Christer,
I chuckled when you first mentioned the plastic bottle toy. My little dog Rocky loves to chew on plastic soda bottles. If he sees me finishing a soda, he will stare at me intently until I put the cap back on and hold the bottle out for him to take. He will gently remove it from my hand, lie down in front of the TV and gnaw away on the cap until he gets it off. When he has accomplished that task his interest in the bottle disappears.
Beautiful photos today. I think I have to get some blue geraniums. They will look nice next to the yellow house.
    Have a great day!

    • Hi Caryn!

🙂 Nova isn´t interested in the cap, she grinds down the rest of the bottle to tiny plastic pieces 🙂 Not so nice to walk on early iun the morning 🙂 🙂 🙂

Those geraniums likes it a bit to much here so I have to pull up lots of them every year. They spread like crazy and are now escaping from my garden 🙂 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  5. Whoa! Bertil looks like he’s angry, stomping down the road!
I just adore seeing him, I hope he is feeling ok.
I should have enough flowers for now but…..
    now I want BLUE GERANIUMS!
My dogs are the same way, they LOVE empty 2 liter bottles!
    🙂 -CIndi

    • Hi Cindi!
He always look like that and his mood is always angry as well 🙂 🙂 Except when he meets the dogs, those he loves above all, me not so much 🙂 🙂 🙂

Even though geraniums are like terrible weed here I do think they are pretty. Especially the blue ones 🙂

Bottles are ok with all my dogs but none of them touches those squeaky toys one can buy. They think they are hurting it when it squeak 🙂 🙂 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  6. Great pix today, as usual. Never can figure out what’s going on with a cat, they travel their own road — but, if he stays acting unusual, he might need a trip to the vet. Sometimes, they eat a bad mouse and it throws them off for awhile. My dog is so tiny, I would worry that she’d get plastic bits in her tummy and then there’d be another big problem! Enjoy your bread and cheese. Back to a different project…

    • Hi Sharlene!
Yes it isn´t normal for Bertil to be nice 🙂 but he´s been out all night and just came in to eat for a while. Now he´s gone again. I just have to wait and see if he comes back to his normal grumpy and angry mood again.

Thankfully they spit out all small plastic pieces even though it does hurt to walk on them 🙂 🙂

Have a great time with Your projects 🙂 Just be sure You don´t over do it!

      Christer.

  7. It’s amazing how animals and children can find such joy in simple things – no expensive pet toys needed to Nova, just give her plastic bottles! After reading the suggestion to freeze water in them for less noise, I wondered if the resulting water melating would be worse.

    • Hi Beatrice!
Yes there´s absolutely no need for expensive toys for them. They normally get bored by them pretty soon anyway. But bottles seems to be everlasting fun 🙂

Frozen bottles will only be allowed outdoors 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  8. Hi Christer,
I’ve been a terrible blogging friend and am trying to catch up.
I have never seen “Geranium’s” like that and never a blue one. Ours look completely different over here.

Mele is long past the chewing puppy stage but she has several toys with squeekers in them and drives us nuts.
Pushes them into our laps and invites us to play, then won’t let us have the toy…just dashes away.
No plastic bottles..those go directly into the recycle bin.
I washed all her toys the other day and …she pushed them around with her nose…and I don’t thinks she was any too happy with me.
Your photo’s were wonderful. I never get tired of pictures of clouds…AND green. Lots of it where you are.

I’m glad you like the little wicker table. They are not easy to find and when you do most are all broken up and in very bad shop. I was so grateful to have DIL find this for me. I hope you find one.
    Take care, Christer..
    Mona

    • Hi Mona!
Well You do have some other things on Your mind to be honest so I think You´re a great blogging friend! Well
Unfortunately english speaking people call both pelargoniums and geraniums the same thing. Long ago they belonged to the same family but then they made a family of their own for pelargoniums. Most of the world changed the names on them then but not the english speaking countries.

My old boys loves to chew on bottles but are terrified for those squeaking toys 🙂 They think they are hurting the poor toy when they chew on it 🙂 🙂 🙂 So no such toys exists in my home (thankfully 🙂 ).

You are so right about those tables! Almost impossible to find and if one gets lucky they are broken somewhere 🙂 But they sell them every now and again so I think I´ll have to buy a new one as soon as I find one 🙂 🙂

Yes lots of green here now and still the trees gets new leafs 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

      Christer.

  10. Hi Christer- I just discovered your blog by way of Octoberfarm and I’m so grateful to have found you. Your blog is a quiet place where I can go and listen to the wind, smell the grass and laugh at the dogs, cats and bunnies–thank you for your very interesting posts on work, the garden, the cottage and the car…thank god you escaped the accident!
I went and bought some dark bread after reading about your lunch tho it’s nothing like the dark bread I used to eat when I lived in Stuttgart.
Keep posting. I’ll keep visiting and dreaming of a peaceful place like yours.

    • Hi Sandy and welcome to my part of the world 🙂

I think a big part of those coming here comes via Octoberfarm 🙂

This is a very quiet and calm part of the world, nothing much ever happens here to be honest. I think it´s when the garbage truck comes here every second week that is most eventful here 🙂 🙂

Germans is the only ones that knows how to make dark bread! The swedish ones is so so but we are better in hard bread and thin bread instead 🙂

You are very welcome back 🙂
      Have a great day!
      Christer.
