Not the healthiest stuff.

Bertil did not follow us on our walk today, he preferred to go indoors instead.

Monday once again and as usual time has just run away. I’ve been working in the neighboring factory today and time flies even faster there. Not because it’s a funny job but I have no chance to see any watch and my mobile phone can’t be reached beneath the overall I wear πŸ™‚ The paint I use is anything but healthy so I’m not allowed to open up the overall or take of my gloves when I have started to work. If I should get any paint on my hands there’s a huge risk that I’ll become allergic to it and if I should breath in some of the fumes my lungs, heart, liver and brain will in the long run get damaged.

Reading all what I’ve just written is kind of scary πŸ™‚ But I wear protective clothes all the time and I have an air respirator that covers my face and gives me fresh air from outside the building and it goes via a filter as well. But we ho use this paint must get a doctors check up on a regular basis just in case.

The rain has been pouring all day and I got a pleasant surprise when I noticed that Orvar and Hector were almost completely clean. They like to stay outside the dog house all the time and since they both have dug a lot of holes in the yard they usually are rather dirty days like this. There were new holes today but non close to the fence πŸ™‚ It’s fun because they dig holes that are too small for them but they get the smaller ones, Sune and Nova, to go through them. I’ve found Nova in the garage more than one time when I’ve come home from work πŸ™‚

It’s almost dark outside now and it’s only seven pm. It would have been brighter if the rain clouds weren’t so dark though. Β I have a fire in the stove and soon I’ll make a pot of tea and a couple of sandwiches. I did bake a bread yesterday, a ginger and rosemary rye bread. I never follows recipes so I can’t say how I did but it is rather tasty πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

  2. Christer, I remember you talking about this paint before, and made us all worried. But since you get regular doctor exams, it must be okay.
Those dogs digging holes must really have fun while you are at work. Funny that Nova is the one who ends up in the garage.
Enjoy that bread. It must taste good on a chilly dark rainy day!

    • Hi Robin!

I’m a very difficult person to that neighboring factory πŸ™‚ I sometimes have to take out the finished product while the paint still is wet and then I force anyone in that room to leave for one hour πŸ™‚ and all doors and roof windows must be open during that time as well, I take no chance with this paint, not with me or any other person πŸ™‚

I wonder how they make Nova go through those holes in to the garage, since it isn’t she who digs? I know that because I have to cut her claws but not the boys πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  3. hi christer! that paint sounds scary. but your bread sounds very good. bertil might not have the best personality but he sure is photogenic! joyce

    • Hi Joyce!

It is but as long as I follow the safety rules there’s no danger. Next time I think I’ll have fresh ginger in the bread, it tastes so much more and better than the dried powder.

He knows how to pose for the camera that cat πŸ™‚

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  4. I think Nova is smart, she lets them do the work and then she escapes! I wish we could read those dogs minds , the conversations would be very interesting.
If that paint is so dangerous is it safe when dry ?Why use things that are so toxic, is there nothing safer that would achieve the same results.
The recipe sounds wonderful and thats my kind of cooking, without a recipe,

    • Hi Laurie!

She is πŸ™‚ ans I have lots of mice in that garage (I don’t keep the car there because of them) so I think she loves to watch and see if she can catch some πŸ™‚

It is totally harmless as dry and can be burnt together with plastic without poisoning. They are trying to find something that can replace this paint but so far no luck.

We call it to work from the hip when we don’t follow recipes πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  5. Christer,
What is it you are painting which necessitates you use something so dangerous? Does it get hot wearing the protective clothing and the mask?

Gracie is a great hole digger but luckily not under the fence. One hole she dug is so big I dare not try and jump over it to get under the deck under the door. Whatever is there can just stay there. I used to fill in the holes but she just dug them again so I gave up.

    Enjoy your evening!

    • Hi Kat!

I’m not sure I’m allowed to say what it is I’m painting without permission from the other factory, not that it is anything secret but one never knows πŸ™‚ But it has to be able to handle heat, cold humidity and salt water and nothing else works I’m afraid. They are trying new things but so far no luck. It can become hot because the overall is made from materials that doesn’t breath at all πŸ™‚ but the air coming through the mask is usually rather cold.

I wonder what it is they are digging after sometimes πŸ™‚ I know that my dogs dig for dandelion roots, they just love to eat those πŸ™‚ and I guess Nova digs after moles, voles and mice πŸ™‚
I only fill the holes in the dog yard, the others are left alone πŸ™‚

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  6. I know that you are Mr. Safety and I’m sure there are strict guidelines…but please continue being extra careful. You have furry kids depending on you!
    πŸ™‚
I LOVE the photo of Bertil! Perfect!

    • Hi Cindi!

I have no wish of getting sick because of my work, I promise πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I know they (management) don’t like me a lot at the other factory because I’m so strict on safety and then I don’t mean mine. There are people working in the room next door and they have suffered from fumes. I’ve threatened to stop painting if they don’t do anything about the bad ventilation they have there πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I can actually be as strict as I want to because I’m the only one who knows how to do this and I’m not an employee of theirs so they can’t fire me πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  7. Hi Christer,
The boys probably don’t have to force Nova to go in the holes. Her terrier nature will cause her to do it all by herself. After all, there might be a huge hare in there or a massive mole. What fun! πŸ™‚ If Sune goes through, well, he’s probably just following his puppy curiosity.
The weather is grey again. No rain. Just grey, damp and cool.
    Enjoy your day!

    • Hi Cindi!

No no force is necessary πŸ™‚ There are lots of mice in my garage so I think she wants to hunt those πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ and as You say, Sune is just curious πŸ™‚ But he was very worried last time when he couldn’t get back, something had fallen over the hole πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Rain and sunshine here today and it will rain for most of the week.

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

    • Hi Mona!

I think he had nΒ΄been out for over 24 hours so I can understand that he preferred to get inside for a while but it is unusual πŸ™‚

      Have a great day!
      Christer.
