Autumn colors.

My brain is absolutely blank when it comes to subjects to write about today πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Every time I think I have something my mind starts to wander off again. I’ve been like this all day and I have no idea why, I guess it’s just one of those days.

Bertil is sleeping on the kitchen table but my dogs run in and out through the open door in the kitchen. I’m not sure what they are doing outside to be honest, they come in rather quickly again so it can’t be anything exiting happening out there.

I’ve started to think about what to sow this coming winter and I’m thinking grass. I have had problems with grasses before because some tend to be way to weedy and have to be planted in big, deep containers so they can’t spread, but they are usually very beautiful. I’ve seen a prairie grass that can become over 3 meters (much the same in yards) and I think I’ll sow that one and have it close to the pond area.

I have a lot of nectarines and a couple of apples that are getting a bit old, perhaps I should make a cobbler? But I don’t feel like eating a cobbler today no matter how delicious it will be. Well I guess I can make one tomorrow instead, they won’t rot by waiting one more day.

I better start making something to eat anyway and a pot of tea or perhaps coffee. I doubt there’s anything wotΒ΄rth seeing on tv so I think I might read a book instead.

Have a great day!

  1. Hi Christer,
Yes, some days are like that. Nothing much happening and not a lot to say about it. πŸ™‚

I am down to my last tomatoes. There is one almost ripe cherry tomato on the small plant and there is the one Black Krim. The Black Krim is still very green and I am beginning to doubt that it will ever be any other color but green. It may yet surprise me.

Some mushrooms are starting to appear around here. It has rained, not frequently but torrentially, a few times so there is moisture in the soil. The leaves on the trees are looking a bit tired and the monarch butterflies are starting to migrate. The season is getting ready to turn again. The autumnal equinox is only 30 days away.

But it’s not fall-like weather here today. It’s sunny and in the 80’s Fahrenheit. I’m thinking about planting grass, too, because there are bare patches in the lawn. I really don’t want any more grass to mow but these particular areas have to be either grass or pavement. Can’t afford pavement right now.

Enjoy the rest of the day!

    • Hi Caryn!

True πŸ™‚ I don’t even have anything to write about my tomatoes πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ One ripe and that’s it πŸ™‚

Lots of mushrooms here though and more will come, this summer has been perfect for them so I might even get a chance to see some that usually won’t show here especially often. I think it’s true to say that we do have autumn now even if it meteorologic isn’t so. Leafs turn color and mushrooms grow everywhere and not to forget the migrating birds.

The weather has been autumn like all summer so I feel I can’t trust that as a sign of autumn πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I don’t like grass I have in my lawn πŸ™‚ But some of those high ones can be really beautiful.

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  2. Christer, I think I am having your ho-hum day too, as I couldn’t think of anything interesting for my blog. But you always have beautiful photos so it is easier for you. I think dogs think they should be outside, but afraid of missing something inside, and vice versa. So then they have the in-out-in-out-in-out game. Love the fall colors. We have a few weeks before we will see changes here, though not as hot, still warm. Definitely make your cobbler soon!!

    • Hi Robin!

It has been a rather good day to be honest but I haven’t been able to concentrate on anything for any longer period of time πŸ™‚ Perhaps that’s the reason it has been so good πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

My cats are usually much worse but today the dogs just couldn’t decide where to be πŸ™‚ I guess Your right about not wanting to miss anything πŸ™‚

I’ll make the cobbler tomorrow πŸ™‚

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

    • Hi Z&M!

I’m actually not sure what You mean by that. If they have started with something they’ll most likely continue with it though.

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

    • Hi Laurie!

I do like autumn but I don’t like that winter follows πŸ™‚

Yes there’s always tomorrow and I think I’ll make the cobbler then πŸ™‚

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  3. Christer,
The reds of autumn are my favorite. Sune is beginning to look less like a puppy. He always seems to be running!

Gracie has a dog door so she can come and go as she pleases. The yard is fenced so she can’t go anywhere though she did jump the 6 foot fence once and not long ago jumped from the second story railing. I have that blocked now so I’ve almost stopped worrying she’ll escape!

    • Hi Kat!

He is always running πŸ™‚ Puppy legs seems to be full of running πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I could put in a dog door but I know that Orvar will walk around the village during nights if I did so I don’t think I will πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ He won’t do anything but wolves do pass here every now and again and they won’t treat him kindly and it would cost a fortune to put up a new fence. So I’m hoping Sune’s bladder will get a bit more patient soon πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  4. You might not have a lot to say but the photos are lovely.
I leave my back door open sometimes when I’m home and the dogs run in and out at will.
But today it’s very hot so the house is closed up and the air is on.
I only went outside to water my plants and then came in (I see my neighbor is outside in his tank t-shirt, hmm maybe he is thinking about working outside! my fingers are crossed that he might take care of his tree!)

I don’t see a cutline? I wonder if it’s just through email that he sees it and not on the blog?

    • Hi Cindi!

      Thank You πŸ™‚

I wish I could say I had my doors closed because of the heat πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ The only reason my kitchen door ever is closed when I’m at home is because it’s either too cold or it rains πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I’ll hold my thumbs for luck so he’ll cut down that last part of the tree!

I have no idea what he’s writing about to be honest πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ But I guess You’re right about that!

      Have a great day!
      Christer.
