A coldfront is approaching.

Sunrise this morning.

A cold front with rain and lots of thunder is on its way to us. At first they said it would arrive in the evening but now they say it will arrive around noon. Strong winds have already start to blow, the clouds get thicker and thicker and soon the rain will start to fall. It seems to be a rather big thunderstorm because my internet and phone company did send me a text message yesterday evening telling me to unplug allΒ computers and phones that I have before it arrives.

But the day has been pleasant so far. The morning was sunny and a bit cool, strangely enough no flies annoyed me, they usually do when thunder is approaching. I went to the super market after our walk to pick up what I had forgotten yesterday, so now I don’t have to worry about going to the toilet πŸ™‚

There were a lot of old American cars out on the road already at 8 am so there must be a gathering here somewhere. I saw cars from the early fifties till late sixties and all but one was very well taken care of. I wonder if my neighbor will attend to that gathering as well, he usually does but a thunderstorm always sort of dampens the joy of driving a convertible.

These two can go on for hours πŸ™‚

Hector won’t play that much with him though but he has the patiens of an angel πŸ™‚

It isn’t always he wants to go in to the garden after our walk.

But he always comes running when I get down on my knees πŸ™‚

Now I’ll make myself a pot of coffee or tea, makeΒ  some kind of breakfast and then I’ll place myself in frontΒ of the tv. Our big chance of getting medals in this olympics is if our swimmers are successful. I don’t know for how long I’ll be able to watch it though, it’s never a good thing to watch tv when thunder arrives πŸ™‚

Orvar isn’t the brightest star in the sky, so when ever he gets stressed or confused or just doesn’t get it, wich is most of the time, he sits down and nothing can make him get up again until he figures out what to do πŸ™‚

The Bumblebee and the copycat.

Have a great day!

  2. our weather has cooled here as well, hopefully no damage with your storm thats coming, you have the finest group of four legged pals, they are very handsome,

    • Hi Laurie!
The first front has passed and I did see some really beautiful flashes. Now it’s hot and humid so when the next front comes all hell might break loose I’m afraid πŸ™‚

I do like my little family πŸ™‚

      Have a greaT day!
      Christer.

  3. Christer, sorry to read that the recent summer like weather was short lived with more storms and cool weather on the way. Hope there are no damages like parts of the east coast recently received here I. Ther US. The dogs were having fun as usual, especially Sune.

    • Hi Beatrice!
Well we did have summer in May πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

The first front has passed and it is now so hot and humid that the next one won’t pass that peacefully πŸ™‚

They do play all the day those dogs πŸ™‚

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  4. Hi Christer,

Cute dog photos today. Well, every day actually, but the happy puppy running towards the camera pics always get me. πŸ™‚

You can watch tv during a thunderstorm. If lightning is going to hit the box, it won’t make a bit of difference. Even if you have surge protectors, the tv may be okay or may not. Lightning hit my cable wire where it comes into the house, blew out both tvs and both cable boxes all of which had surge protectors. The downstairs tv and box and the upstairs box recovered but the upstairs tv was fried. A co-worker used to unplug everything in her house when an electrical storm came. One time lightning hit the wires, came through one open outlet in the livingroom and flashed across to another open outlet narrowly missing her daughter. After that the women left everything plugged in and running because she would much rather the lightning blow out an appliance than zap one of her family. The most I do is unplug my laptop and run it on battery power.

I finally found the Olympics station to see the opening ceremonies. I tuned in at France and lasted until Ghana. My ice cream bowl was not very big and there were a lot of long commercial breaks. The horse sports are the only things that would hold my interest through all of that and they don’t get shown over here unless the Americans win.

A bee moth flew inside my porch yesterday. I haven’t seen any of them around for several years and I was so concerned about getting it back outside unharmed that I forgot to take a picture first. Huge photographer fail. 😦 Oh, well. I guess Art Wolfe has nothing to worry about from me. πŸ™‚

Enjoy the Olympics and nevermind the storm.

    • Hi Caryn!
Well my tv is new and the digital box is built in to it, There’s no other box since I have an antenna. So I’ll plug out anything electric while a thunderstorm passes, I’ve gotten wise with the time πŸ™‚ Too many tv’s and computers has died in this village since I moved here just because no one unplugged them πŸ™‚ But I never unplug my old telephone! just for the same reason that woman does. It is almost impossible to make a phone call from it now days but rather that than having the lightning jump around in my hallway πŸ™‚

Isn’t that typical πŸ™‚ But I’m pretty sure Art Wolfe has very little to worry about when it comes to any photographer πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  5. Wow! you get a text?
We are lucky if they even warn us here! They are ALWAYS wrong. It’s actually been raining in the past and the weatherman on TV was saying sunny skies.
hate them. ok, maybe not hate but really dislike. πŸ™‚
love that photo of Orvar, it made me think of my old Newfie mix, Truman…who has long since passed.
be careful watching the Olympics during bad weather.
I must confess, I’m not watching them at all.
I might work outside today, since it’s dropped below 90.
    πŸ˜€ – Cindi

    • Hi Cindi!
Yes and I got rather surprised πŸ™‚

It looks as if all weather men are having problems predicting the weather now! They can’t even say what kind of weather we’re having at the moment πŸ™‚

Orvar and Hector is 1/4 new foundland πŸ™‚ He’s the kindest old bear (that’s what i call him πŸ™‚ ) there is but not the brightest one πŸ™‚

The first thundervfront has passed and now it’s hot and humid, so when the next one comes I’m afraid all hell will break loose πŸ™‚ If it is too bad we all will sit on the bottom floor in the livingroom, sp much easier to get out and in to the car or garage if things would start to burn πŸ™‚

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  6. Happy dog photos today, Christer. Poor old Orvar, the gentle bear. he does have patience to tolerate the attacks of the puppy. We are having a lovely steady rain this morning….so needed. It is only 67 degrees F. We recorded the opening ceremonies so we can zoom through the long parts & the commercials (of which there are MANY). Looking forward to the swimming and the race with the fellow with the prosthetic legs.
Hope all is well with your weather now.

    • Hi Robin!

Orvar has less tolerance than Hector though πŸ™‚ But he is a big dumb kind bear πŸ™‚ To bad I won’t have vacation then but I guess most finals will be done in the evening anyway πŸ™‚

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  7. hi christer! i am so impressed that they warn you to unplug electronics. that certainly does not happen here. did you get a big storm? i could just lok at pics of your dogs all day long. they are soooo cute! joyce

    • Hi Joyce!
I got a bit surprised that they did send me that message πŸ™‚ I guess they’ve just started doing that.

Yes the thunderstorms comes and goes at the moment. One just passed east of us and another west of us but now it seems one is comming straight at us πŸ™‚

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  8. I enjoyed the opening ceremonies, better watched on wide screen then in the stadium seats. Too much activity I think. But let the games begin. Already our star swimmer Phelps has fallen to fourth place in the first race. He’s not in the same shape as he was in Beijing. Good photos today. Love that Sune.

    • Hi Z&M!
I really like it too but I just couldn’t stay awake the entire program πŸ™‚ and I think You’re right, there was so much to see that we most probably got a better look at everything than they did who were there πŸ™‚

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  9. Christer,
How is Sune’s stomach? He looks puppy roly poly in all the pictures. When there is lightning i go with the battery on my MAc and if I’m using my PC I turn it off. The TV hasn’t ever been affected by weather.

I was out for the Olympic’s opening ceremonies but I DVR’ed it so when I got home I started watching. It was wonderful fast forwarding through the commercials. I thought it was wonderful.

Stay warm and have a great weekend!

    • Hi Kat!

So far its much better πŸ™‚
I rarely have problems with lightning hitting the electric cables outside but my neighbor has, he has lost several things due to that. ssssSo I never take a chance on that, but my biggest problem is the telephone cables. The lightning always seems to find those πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

We don’t have commercials on those channels showing the Olympics this year πŸ™‚ I hate comercials that interrupts events like that!

      Have a great day!
      Christer.
