It is a bit cold.

It is a wonderful sunny morning, no wind and a bit chilly. According to the swedish weather prediction for today it will be windy, cloudy and perhaps some snow. But looking at the Norwegian (which usually is better) we’ll get less wind, more sunshine and no snow, so today I’ll believe the Norwegian one 🙂 🙂 Now I’ll have to short working weeks, this we are free on Friday and next week we’ll be free from work on Monday. Easter Monday is a holiday here but I really don’t know why, from what I know nothing special happened that day, but I won’t complain 🙂

Now its Hector’s and Nova’s turn to get that fungus infection that Orvar had some time ago. Really strange this because it doesn’t look to be contagious between the dogs, because it is way to long time since Orvar had it for him to be the one responsible for giving the other this. So it must be something out in the forest that they put their nose in so they too get it. It’s probably something they get from the foxes in the area, they do tend to give our dogs strange things 🙂 🙂 🙂 Well this time I’m prepared and I’m giving them the ointment until it goes away.

Since this is one of those days that looks nicer than it is I’ll probably just stay indoors, I don’t feel I have enough energy to do anything special today so I think I’ll just vacuum the cottage and perhaps planning more about that green house. Like what do I need to buy and will I be able to get all that material home in my little car or should I borrow that pickup again when that day comes. I don’t have to buy all things at the same time though. Even though I would like to have it ready already this spring I never stress and to be honest, sometimes its the planning that is the fun part of it all 🙂

My favorite crocus showed themselves yesterday.

I’ll keep the fire burning in the stove all day too so perhaps I’ll bake a bread as well. By the way, I’ve forgotten to tell You all that my stepson is back home again 🙂

Since You all like this rather unpleasant little cat I thought I would put in three extra with him today.

Have a great day!

      Christer.

  2. Beautiful forest photos today, Christer. Excellent news about your stepson; that is a big relief I know! Planning and making lists for projects is definitely an enjoyable undertaking. I am glad you are sharing the process with us. Yes, we do all love Bertil, so thanks for extra pictures. He is one handsome fella, even if he is bitter and angry! Too bad about that fungus infection; hope it goes away quickly!! Enjoy that bread.

    • Hi Robin!

Yes it is a big relief that he’s at home 🙂 It is easier to come back to normal when being home as well, no matter how good the hospital might be.

It is fun planning something, but then it can take ages before I get started. I don’t know why but I hate starting projects but usually love doing them as soon as I’ve started 🙂 🙂

It seems as this fungus dies out after three weeks. When the last is gone from the dogs all spores in the home is gone as well. So they simply must get it when walking in the forest. I just wish I knew where because we walk everywhere 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  3. Bertil is probably upset because he doesn’t get that many photos taken. Did you think of that? 😎 I totally agree that the planning stage and drawing up the plans is the best part of any project. I could do that, forever. Of course, I’m trying to figure out a way to get Jaz’s guest house onto your property, so that I can retire totally in comfort. The dogs are always welcome… Just letting you know. The best for last: I’m so glad that your stepson is better. Nothing worries us more than when something happens and we have to wait for it to improve. Get some rest and continue with the heat pads.

    • Hi Sharlene!
No he’s just a grumpy and angry little cat from the beginning 🙂 He was almost not socialized at all as a kitten so he is sort of half wild. He accepts me but that’s it. He loves the dogs though except for dogs he doesn’t know, those he attacks instead 🙂 🙂 🙂

That is a good idea, but how to move that house to this place. I have seen houses being moved on huge lorries though. I guess they can load it on a lorry and get it on a ship over to this side of the ocean. Will cost some though 🙂 🙂 🙂 I do hope You don’t mind zillions of horse flies though 🙂 🙂 🙂

I’m so glad too 🙂 and he is as well 🙂 🙂 🙂

I have had lots of rest today, nothing much I can do if I don’t want to get out into either rain, snow and hail 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  4. hi christer! glad to hear your step son is better and home. bertil looks like a cat on a mission! it’s nice that you have 2 short weeks too! joyce

    • Hi Joyce!
I’m so glad too 🙂 It is easier to get back to health while being at home, no matter how good the hospital may be.

I think he is on a mission too, he’s a bit like Stewie on Family guy. His goal is to eradicate me 🙂 🙂 🙂

Yes it is nice to have two short working weeks 🙂 To bad the weather will continue like this, snow rain and hail mixed with some sunshine and lots of wind. Otherwise I could have started with the green house, at least the foundation.

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  5. He’s an adorable cat. How do you treat your brood for fleas over there. We have a nasty out break here and it’s been six weeks with little success. So happy to read your stepson is home. He probably feels much better. Great photos today!

    • Hi Z&M!
Well he looks adorable anyway 🙂
Thankfully flees are very, very rare here so I have never had to treat them for that 🙂 I have enough with other things to treat them for as it is 🙂 🙂 🙂

      Yes he does 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  6. I am so glad to hear that your stepson is home again. I am sure you are relieved. In one of today’s photos there is something brown up in a tree, off to the right of the photo. Is that a deer stand? It has been chilly here this weekend also. A few weeks ago it was so warm I could hardly stand it and now it is time to bundle in the covers again – I much prefer that to the heat! And what is better on a chill day that baking bread, except maybe having a nice soup or stew to accompany it. Great photos as always. Sorry to hear about the fungus. Nancy

    • Hi Nancy!
Yes I am 🙂 But he’s very sensitive to infections so I guess it won’t be long until he’s sick again. This was the healthiest person I’ve ever met and then a car crash (not his fault) changed everything. But so far so good 🙂

Yes it is, but we call them Moose towers 🙂 But it is many years since this one was used. They repair it every now and again when the weather has been too tough to it though 🙂

We rarely get that heat You do, not even when it is as warmest in summer. So I have to say I prefer hot weather, but that would most probably be seen as rather nice over at Yours 🙂 🙂 🙂

It is rather nice to bake bread on cold days and I have great soup mixes I’ve gotten from Joyce at Octoberfarm that I can make to that bread 🙂

Dogs that can run around like my can do get the most strange things 🙂 and quite often too. At least this only anyones me and nothing else 🙂 🙂 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

      • Oh Octoberfarm has wonderful recipes – like the Rosemary No-Knead Bread! Another good recipe blog is Beverly’s Back Porch.

      • She does have great recipes! Thankfully she has them on the side bar so one always can go back and find them when ever one needs them 🙂

  7. Christer, the planning stages always seem to be more fun and I have noticed that is true expecially when I am doing research on something to buy. I have spent countless hours online when I have bought a camera or something for my computer in the past. But now I have been holding off on any major purchases because there is nothing I need and my old “stuff” is working just fine. Nice forest shots and glad to see the snowstorm did not turn out to be a major event. Bertil may not be as friendly as Teodor, but still nice to see him featured. Glad to read that your stepson is on the mend and back home – always nice to hear good news.

    • Hi Beatrice!
It is fun no matter what it is about 🙂 But when it comes to things like a new tv I only get stressed 🙂 🙂 I have no idea what to look for and what to avoid, but I was lucky when I bought my last tv. It turns out it is one of the tv’s that use the least energy 🙂

Thankfully we didn’t get that much snow but still, one person slided off the road and died.

Bertil is half wild so he accepts me but that’s it. They never socialized him like they did Teodor for a reason I don’t know. So he will remain aan angry little cat for the rest of his life I’m afraid.

Yes it was so nice to hear that he had been released and gone home again 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  8. Ok..I do admit that Bertil is my favorite cat..but that’s because is he is so tough. There have been times I was really afraid for him but he always turns up.
It’s funny, because as tough as he likes to think he is, apparently, someone to carry him at times makes him feel safe and happy. All of your animals are special, Christer. Probably Bertil’s anger keeps him alive out there in the forest. He seems to always be with you on your walks..you are his human! 🙂

Home schooling. I have mixed feeling about it. You probably do good and do bad. Same with private schools. The problem with home schooling, I think, is that children miss interacting with other their own age. Social skills, I think, can be missing when children are home schooled. Then there are times it is probably for the best. It’s a toss up.
    Have a great day

    • Hi Mona!
He is many peoples favorite, especially those who hasn’t met him 🙂 🙂 🙂 But You are right, he is tough nad that is most probably why this tiny cat can survive out there in the forest. He wouldn’t hesitate to attack a fox 🙂 🙂 🙂

Home schooling is extremely rare here and I can understand it in a few cases. As You say they loose a lot when it comes to social skills and their parents must know what to do when suddenly becoming their teachers. But as long as the parents know what they are doing and make up for what the children loose in socvial skills I won’t say anything.

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  9. I just love that Bertil…I think the fact that he’s so anti-social makes him even more endearing in some weird way.
Someday I want to do a painting with him in it. I need to stop some of my projects and do something creative sometime!
Sigh…just never enough hours in the day it seems.
    Take care, Cindi

    • Hi Cindi!
He do look cute with his rather angry look 🙂 To bad it matches his temper 🙂 🙂 Most people never see him though, only when he follow us around and he can’t hide when we meet anyone. He do like my neighbors too, at least that much that he doesn’t hide when they come close 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.
