Lots of politics in the air now.

And so the snow has started to fall, or as a friend said dandruff from God 🙂 🙂 🙂 For once all long time weather predictions show we’ll get cold for more than ten days in a row so now winter has arrived. as You all know I don’t mind if it gets cold as long as we don’t get any snow or at least very little of it. But we managed to get out on a couple of walks before it started anyway.

I like politics and I especially like to follow the Republican party’s way to find a candidate for the coming election in the US. I have to say that most of the candidates scare me a bit, only one doesn’t see war as a solution to everything 🙂 But from what I know he’s so much right that we can’t find anyone like him here 🙂 To be honest, even our conservatives are more to the left than the democrats in the US 🙂 🙂 🙂

Over here no one would care if a politician had been unfaithful to his or her spouse, but I think may would react if the politician was a mormon, well at least if he tried to talk about it. What we do react to is if he or her showed greed! That’s something we can’t tolerate even if we would be greedy ourselves 🙂 The right to abortion is a non topic, most people think it is a womans right to choose that if she wants to (but then tend to forget that the father perhaps would like to have that child).

Most of us doesn’t care about their sexual preferences either, as long as they do their job good we rarely care about anything else about them 🙂 🙂 We have a right-wing minority government here in Sweden at the moment and most of You americans would probably see them as left-wing democrats 🙂 This government isn’t especially popular but there is simply no real opposition. The biggest party of the opposition is led by a clown that has done so many mistakes and never knows the facts about what he talks about so he will most likely tell that he is resigning. There’s a press conference in a couple of minutes.

But to be honest, the party has had big problems a long time now. The biggest conservative part used all slogans that the labour party have had during the history and the labour party got so surprised by this that they didn’t know what to do 🙂 🙂 🙂 More and more snow is falling from the sky so I think it isn’t more than right to look at “The day after tomorrow” on dvd later on 🙂 🙂 🙂

Have a great day!

  1. beautiful photos, today, enjoy the dandruff from the Gods and enjoy your politics, for some its a lively hobby and passion, my husband likes the politics of government but all I see that it does is get him riled up.They should let more women run the countries,
All the best to you on your snowwy day, we are in a deep freeze buried in snow, ahhhhh, winter.

    • Hi Laurie!
I had prefered if he had kept the dandruff 🙂 But now its here and I can’t do anything about it so I better enjoy it 🙂 🙂 🙂

I do like politics even if I’m not involved in it. But I doubt there would be any bigger difference if more women were in charge, just look at Margaret Thatcher 🙂 🙂 🙂

      have a great day!

  2. I hate politics.
I don’t trust any of them.
One side seems to want to give away my hard earned money to lazy slugs with no morals.
and the other side wants to judge people and restrict their right to happiness.
I think that some have started out with good intentions but then have gotten stomped down by the opposing party.
Seems like it’s either the very rich or the very poor that get any benefits.
I’ve worked 3 jobs at one time to make ends meet and I struggle everyday.
But I’m still heavily taxed and not given any hand-outs, though that’s not what I want.
I just would like be able to catch my breath a little bit.
I do NOT care if the man has cheated.
Most (but not all) men do and would if the opportunity was there to do so….
    Yeah, I don’t like politics.

    • Hi Cindi!
I don’t trust them either but I’m still very interested in politics 🙂 We have amongst the highest taxes in the world but we do actually get a lot for our money even if we don’t feel it is enough. It doesn’t cost us a fortune if we get sick or needs surgery. My two hip implant surgeries has costed me around $120 in total including medication.

No kids has to pay for lunch in school and lots of other things. Yes poor people do get money because they need it 🙂 Very few are sloths to be honest, many just don’t get the chance from the beginning to be honest.

      Have a great day!

      • sorry if I made it sound like all people in poverty are sloths. I was just thinking about standing in line with my few groceries that I added up in my head to make sure I have enough money to buy them so that I don’t embarrass myself and have to put something back. And then in front of me is a woman with a kid in her cart and very pregnant with another while some guy in an expensive sports jersey and name brand high-top tennis shoes stands and waits on her while the food cart is overflowing. And the woman hands the cashier her “Link” card. I don’t understand how the “poor” can dress in expensive clothes and drive NEW cars and keep having kids while working people count their pennies. Maybe it’s just here that is happens, but I see it A LOT.
Or when they interview people on the local news and they were talking about closing a low-income housing unit and this woman is standing in her living room talking about her 7 kids and you can see a HUGE widescreen TV in the background. YES, there are hard-working poor people but there are some that also live off the system and that makes me mad.

      • There will always be people that manages to live off the system, they always find a way to do that. Obviously they do use their brain power a lot, to bad they don’t do it for good things instead. But since we don’t know how they got those things we really can’t judge them to be honest. A tv that is just a couple of years doesn’t ciost that much, just like computers really. Reasonable modern clothes can be bought in second had stores cheap or they may have gotten them via charity. Rich people rarely keep their clothes for especially long.

But I do understand how You feel 🙂 We who don’t make that much money just have to plan our economy so much better. I for instance always plan so I don’t have to drive extra to buy food or things I need (the gas prise here is at least twice as high as it is over at Yours). I do all my buying on my way home from work. I rarely buy anything I really don’t need and if I do I save the money before I buy what ever it is I wanted, like the tv and dvd-player I bought this christmas. It may not sound especially fun but it works and I rarely have any financial problems. It happens if the car costs to much tio repaire though 🙂 🙂 🙂

  4. hi christer! we got about 3 inches of snow! don’t even get me started about politics in this country. these republicans pretty much assure obama another term. i can’t even look at them! they have such archaic views! i mean really, someone is going to tell me what i can do with my body? and whatever happened to the old adage about mixing politics and religion? all politics is about in this country is religion! grrrr!!! haha! joyce

    • Hi Joyce!
I think we might have gotten that much snow now too, but it is hard to see since the wind doesn’t let it lay down even on the ground 🙂 🙂 🙂 It’s almost storm here at the moment. I had to go out to get more firelogs and it wasn’t especially pleasant 🙂 🙂

I think You’re right about that! Even if I am a bit dissapointed with Obama the republicans have little or no chance to win this time. It is never good when they bring God in to politics! and lots of them doesn’t have much better views than the Talibahns to be honest 🙂 Thankfully that is one thing we don’t have much of in our politics.

      Have a great day!

  5. I don’t see a Republican win this time around. Their politics is so bad I wouldn’t be surprised if they do win they take away a woman’s right to vote. I think the women voters in this country will vote for Obama just to make sure they keep their Constitutional Rights. But aren’t primaries a time when candidates say anything to get elected? Everything has turned to crap over here except for the 1% and they get richer by the second. The middle class is taxed to death and credit card rates are higher than usury. It’s allowed now thanks to George Bush. Older people are getting shafted too and they earned what was put into the Social Security system but the rich corporations want to take it away. We are experiencing a fight to keep the poor out of slavery. You’re lucky you live where you live even with God’s dandruff sprinkling down a few months in the year.

    • Hi Z&M!
I don’t think so either but it all depends on if the democrats actually votes. I am a bit dissapointed with Obama, he’s been to kind really so nothing has been done to be honest. But the republicans are so much to the right they do scare a lot of people

I guess they do take the chance to say anything right now but we have nothing like that here to be honest. Our political systems are very different in most ways.Even the right wing conservatives want rich people to pay higher taxes here 🙂 🙂 They have actually lowered our taxes rather much (and still we have almost the highest in the world 🙂 ) for all people that have a job. Too much to be honest, there’s always a risk that we have to pay more for health care if they lower it more. But we do have lots of problems here too, I just don’t tell You about them 🙂

      Have a great day!

  6. Hi Christer,

I used to be interested in politics when there were intelligent, intelligible people in politics. The trouble with politics in this country is that it is infested with people who have private morals but no public ones. The last several batches have gone a long way toward dismantling the rights of the people and the people are just smiling and nodding.

I hope that paw print on the floor belongs to one of your crew and not some mysterious creature lurking in the lilacs. 🙂

It’s very cold and snowing here. Third snowfall this week. God needs some medicated shampoo, I think. 🙂

    Enjoy the day.

    • Hi Caryn!
A bigger problem is those that have a public moral but no private 🙂 🙂 🙂 It seems republicans are more hypocrites to be honest. How often haven’t I read about republicans condemning homosexuals and being that at the same time themselves 🙂 🙂 🙂

It is the paw print from Bertil waiting on the stairs to get in 🙂

I think we have gotten around three inches of snow by now and it will snow all night they say. He definitaly needs better shampoo 🙂 🙂 🙂

      Have a great day!

  8. I am hoping the Republicans win this time around. What Obama has done to the country is totally wrong. He has messed up big time. I live in South Carolina so today was a big day being a Primary. I was up and out the door to vote at 7 AM. I don’t care about how much baggage they have. The man I want has plenty. But he is strong in his belief and I feel he will follow through on what is good for the country. Get small businesses going again, and jobs for people instead of food stamps and 3 years of unemployment. Your pictures a beautiful. I went to see the movie the “Iron Lady” Excelllent. What a women.

    • Hi Donna!
You and I do have the opposite political views 🙂 🙂 🙂 So I think I won’t comment to much about that :-9 except that it was a republican president that was responsible for much of the bail outs to the big industries that Obama had to continue with. But I don’t think Obama has done enough to help the poor.

The economical crisis didn’t hit us as hard as it did You even though lots of people has lost their jobs here too. I hope whom ever becomes president in Your country is siccessful in turning this crisis tio something better!

I’m not a big fan of Margaret Thatcher but I have to admit that she did what she wanted to do and nobody could stop her 🙂 I will see the movie but I think I’ll wait till it comes on DVD.

      Have a great day!

  9. You see you have it all wrong. Bush may have started our problems, but Obama has done more than any other President to make things worse. I know that what the Europeans think, that Bush was the big problem, so why than have things gotten worse?
Obama has done so much for the poor that they are totally dependent on money from the government. They don’t even try to get a job. Why when it can be given to you? I too am hoping that getting an New President in office he will be able to eventually turn things around. It is desperately needed. If Obama gets in for another 4 years, we will really be in big trouble. I don’t want to share my wealth, with someone that wants to sit back and do nothing, I worked to hard to get what I have.

    • I don’t think he really had much of a choice, That path was already taken and he had to follow it. To get out of a crisis like this people need to spend money, not only people but the government as well. If a government starts to save too much money there’s always a risk that the crisis will get even worse and more people get unemployed, wich makes them spend less money so that the companies sells less so they have to fire more people that spends less money so the companies has to………

But compared to Europe the poor in Your country gets little. I doubt anyone would like to have such bad economy so that they can do almost nothing than survive to be honest (there’s always those that does what they can to not to have to work but they are very few). The big problem in our economies is that the jobs for people with little or no education is gone, those jobs are somewhere in Asia. Today You almost b´need some kind of degree to work in a store. It was different when I was young, In just walked in to Volvo and they hired me and they payed me good as well!

You do also have something we don’t have here in Sweden, a minimum wage. All wagws are negotiated between the employers and the different unions here and that makes our wages higher than they are over at Yours. Most people doesn’t need more than one job to make ends meet here. A couple of surveys has shown that it was the countries with the highest taxes that made it through this crisis less harmed. We do have high taxes so that we can help the poor, that we don’t have to pay especially much for health care, free lunches in school for all children, free education even at university level and so on. I’m nort saying we couldn’t have it better and that our politicians spend mony the right way all the time 🙂 🙂 🙂

But whom ever is president after the next elec tion will get it tough already from day one and I do hope he will manage to get Your eceonmy working again, it is after all the engine of all eceonomies on this little planet of ours!

  10. I couldn’t have said it better Christer and I am an American…it’s too bad alot of other dim-witted people over here can’t see it, as well! President Obama stepped into a hornet’s nest of an economy, war, etc. that Bush created and if he (Obama) didn’t have to go up against a brick wall everytime he wanted to fix something…then things would already be alot better than they were.
As you can see, politics are a very explosive, emotional issue over here so you are opening up a can of worms, when you bring them up! I am especially fearful of the crazy, religious, right wing nuts that want to take away our basic, constitutional, human rights. They hate everyone that isn’t white, christian, heterosexual, etc. etc. all in the name of god!
    I think that if there really is a god that (she) would come down here and say….what the hell is wrong with you people?….where did i go wrong?…I’m outta here!! 🙂 At least we know she has dandruff! :}

    • Hi Chris!
The Republicans stubbornness has costed You americans a lot of money I’m afraid. All money the state now has to borrow has gotten a much higher interest rate so now You have to pay a lot more than You really should have to! and not because the world doesn’t beileve You can’t pay, only because the republicans behaved like they did.

Politics isn’t that explosive here but I knew it might get some people upset 🙂 Next time I’ll bring up the topich why Right wing Christans are wrong when it comes to homosexuality and that it isn’t a sin at all 🙂 🙂 🙂 Do You think I’ll be able to continue to write here after that 🙂 🙂 🙂

We have a famous writer here that explained his view on heaven. He says something like this: When we come to heaven God, a big fat black lesbian serves everyone spaghetti and meatballs and everyone can have just as much as they want and it is ok not to want anyghing at all too 🙂 🙂

      Have a great day!

  11. OMG!! That is the funniest thing I’ve heard in a long time! I so hope that’s true…as I LOVE spaghetti and meatballs!! :)) Seriously if there really is a god, do you think she put all these people here of different colors, religions, etc. and meant for them to hate each other?? There is so much bigotry, racism and all kinds of other “un-godly” things in the world that I’ll be suprised if she lets any of us into heaven at all!
No, you better not bring up that right wing christian topic because if any of your readers are just that, I may want to come through the computer and punch them!! 🙂
    Keep spreading the love brother!!
PS. did you ever see the movie Milk…about Harvey Milk? It was wonderful….sad but wonderful!!

    • I do like that view of heaven 🙂
No I doubt that was the plan 🙂 I don’t think many humans will get in to heaven, but I do think heaven will be full of loved pets 🙂

I’ll wait to write about that until I feel tired of blogging 🙂 🙂 🙂 I better move somewher else and not mentioning that to anyone exept for those I know very well 🙂 But I do know that many of my readers are pagans and even if I am christian myself I do feel I have more in common with pagans than hatefull christians!

No I haven’t seen that movie, I’ll check what it is on the net and see ifg I can find it here.

Have a great day my friend!

  12. I’m with you on that one…how can one call themselves a christian and be full of hate…I don’t get that part, do you? Yes, do see if you can find that movie somewhere, I think you would really like it. I don’t think many people are going to be reading these comments on an old post so I can say, (although I shouldn’t care)…my youngest son is gay and my heart has broken a dozen times watching how awful people have been toward him and he is one of the sweetest people on this planet. I’m not just saying that because he is my son, it’s because….he is! He wouldn’t hurt a flea…well maybe a flea but nothing bigger than that! 🙂
You have a great day…or night too and it’s been great chatting with you!! 🙂

    • Hi Chris!
The worst thing is that they actually belives they are full of love when they condemn someone to hell because they read the bible like the devil do! No christian is allowed to condemn anyone for anything, that is not our job!!!! and one can see how full of hate they are while doing it!

I can’t understand why people are nasty towards gays?! How can love ever be wrong? Thankfully its getting easier for gay people here in Sweden. It is still tough out on the countryside but easier in the big cities even though there still are people that think it’s fun to beat them up. I hope Your son can hold his head up proudly because there’s nothing wrong with him 🙂

      Have a great day!

  13. Thank-you for the kind words Christer…there are just some people that you know…even though we have not met in person.. will not pass judgement when you confide in the them :)…although I find myself passing judgement on those people full of hateful feelings towards anyone different from themselves! I hope they go to hell….if there is one!!
It has been very difficult for my son, since he was very young because he did not have the skills to deal with unkind gestures toward him and so even now he struggles…he is only 21 and still lives at home, safely with us! He’s never even had a relationship and is quite lonely but someday it will be better, I hope.
It is better here to in the bigger cities and we have encouraged him to think about someday moving to a more tolerant place but he’s afraid and I can’t say as I blame him.
Well, anyway…you have a great day…I have been getting way off the subject of your blog…I love your photos and your pets have the greatest home! 🙂

    • Hi Chris!

We don’t pass judgement on those spreading hate, we’re telling the truth about them 🙂 🙂 🙂

I can understand how tough it must be for him, especially if he can’t deal with unkind gestures. But can’t he find people via the internet, so it would be easier to move to a friendlier place? It is so much easier to change ones life if one already knows at least one person somewhere else. It is important that he knows it will be better! But he must dare take that first step and that will be easier when he knows You are there for him.

All subjects are welcome here 🙂 Doesn’t matter what I wrote about in the beginning 🙂

Have a great day and say Hi to Your son from me!

  14. Thanks Christer…I will talk to him about maybe using the internet but I think he is afraid of that as well after hearing stories of predators who lure young people posing as “friends”. I think he has developed this distrust of people because of being treated badly in the past and of course, hearing all the stories out there. I try and tell him there are also alot of good people out there and you just have to keep taking those leaps of faith. It will just take time and I’m sure that that someone special will come along…someday!
I will surely tell him that you said hello…he would like that…I have told him about you and your blog before and shown him your photographs! Do you know any nice, young, Swedish gay men? 🙂 🙂
Take care and you have a great day too!!

    • Yes there’s always risk of those predators but all of us meet them daily anyway 🙂 But I was thinking more of LGBT organizations. They would be more than willing to help him get friends and help with eventual other problems or questions he might have.

Unfortunately I don’t know any young gay men 🙂

      Have a great day!

  15. Good idea! Something or hopefully…someone will come along…good things come to those who wait…or something like that! 🙂

You have a great day too and Thanks for your kindness! 🙂

    Think Spring!!

    • He just have to ddare taking that first step and then things will change 🙂

I’m thinking spring so much it hurst but it won’t show itself here until late March I’m afraid and that’s an early spring here 🙂 🙂 🙂

      Have a great day!
