Soon comes Santa/ Father Frost/ The Yule Gnome or what ever he is called :-)
Today its only one month to Jul (Yule as we call Christmas here in Sweden), for some reason I really don’t know and can’t find an answer to we celebrates the 24th of December. I think that also Norway, Denmark and Finland celebrates Yule that day. In Denmark the Yule gnome place the presents beneath the yule tree on the night to Yule eve but in the rest of the nordic countries he gives them to the children some time during Yule eve. I won’t write too much about our traditions now but save that for later even if most of You probably already have read about it here before.
In Russia its Father Frost and the Snow girl that gives away the presents but they do it at January 7th instead. I’m not sure but I think Father Frost is the same thing wer call Kung Bore (King Bore), he is the king of winter and every time we have a snow storm we say that King Bore is in a bad mood 🙂 🙂 🙂
Unlike most people in the world we swedes and the Norwegians really can’t say where Santa, Yule gnome, Father frost lives. I know most people thinks Santa lives at the North Pole, the Finns says he lives at a mountain called Korvatunturi and the danes says he lives on Greenland. It is believed we Swedes and Norwegians has a to close relationship with our house gnomes to really care where the Yule gnome lives 🙂 🙂
I was relieved the day I found out that the Yule gnome wasn’t real 🙂 🙂 He scared the s..t out of me every time I had to go and get a present 🙂 Back than they all had those horrible flat masks that sort of made them look like zombies but with lots of make up on 🙂 🙂 🙂 The only way to make me walk up to him was yo bribe me with lots of ginger breads 🙂 🙂
Have a great day!
