It is already September!

Time just flies away it feels. It is already September and it feels as spring just arrived🙂 September is usually counted as the first month of autumn here but today has been warm and nice with lots of sunshine after the fog finally was burned away by the sun. I wonder why the best fog mornings always comes during working days. Today had been a fantastic day to get great photographs but it is still dark when I get up so I really can´t take any photographs.

Today the started to put up the electricity wire on the fence poles by the new field. Unfortunately the cut of one of the roads to the creek further down. They will make gates there so that tractors and we who love to walk down there still can reach the creek from that side. But who dares to walk there when there are cows with calves when one brings dogs? It isn´t especially unknown that cows attacks then.

I guess we won´t have any fog at all on the weekend when I have the chance to use my camera🙂🙂 Lots of birthdays this month as well. Tomorrow Nova becomes two years old and the sixth Orvar and Hector becomes eight. I have my birthday a bit later and lots of people I know too. I´ll make an apple pie tomorrow for Novas birthday, well the dogs won´t get any because they have had enough of wobbly stomachs but I´ll have it🙂🙂🙂 My dogs will however get lots of treats instead🙂

My modem is acting badly again so I´ll wrap it up here now, I hope it works long enough to get all the photographs I want in this post today. I´ve noticed that the connection can work for hours if I shut down the computer and then starts it up again, but it does take so long and it still isn´t especially good to be honest. By the way, I planted all those rhododendrons the other day and the first thing Orvar does is to lay down on one of them🙂🙂🙂 I have taken lots of cuttings but I have no idea if they´ll get roots this time of the year.

We went down to the creek yesterday afternoon. The sun shone and the mosquitoes bit us all🙂

Time for something to eat and a cup of tea I think.                                                                         Have a great day!

We have a beaver in the area now🙂 But I can almost guarantee that it won´t be long lived. I think this might be both the first and last sign of it.

  1. Christer, it is great to read a post from you after your few days of modem problems. Hoping you will get it all fixed soon. The red mushroom photo is absolutely fantastic!! Really like the forest and woods today, with fern fronds, pine branches. WOw birthdays all over the place. My son and one of my brothers have September birthdays. Now when exactly is your birthday?

    • Hi robin!
The modem dies every now and again and it really annoys me. But I´ll see if I can buy a better modem and just forget about my crappy internet company. They have already lost me as a client for the future,

I do like the red toadstool! It actually reminds me of yule🙂 We often have red toadstools as decorations in our Advent candlesticks and in many of the yule flower arrangements too,

I have my birthday exactly in the middle of the month.

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  2. will the beaver be short lived because some one will trap it? I don’t talk of this on my blog but my Dad was a fur trapper all his life, he trapped nuisance beaver for the tomnship we lived in.He hung up his pack sac and traps at 75 years of age,, I know this sound stupid but I didn’t realize you had beaver in your country!

    • Hi Laurie!
Most likely they´ll shoot it I guess. But I hope they at least try to scare it away first. This will of course be done so no one can prove it ever happened.
How interesting about Your father! Back then no one realized that the beavers might die out like they did here.

Ours dies out around 1870 but thanks to one land owner in Norway that banned hunting on beavers we got some from Norway (many other countries got some of the american beaver that is slightly bigger than the european) and now we have them everywhere, even in cities🙂 They are not popular amongst land and forest owners I´m afraid.

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

      Christer.

  4. hi christer! i love the photo of bertil and the red mushroom…fantastic1 will your dogs go after the beaver? too funny that all your birthdays are at the same time! it’s september first but it is 92 and humid as can be. after all my cleaning at the guest house the roofers came in and made a huge mess. ugh! joyce

    • Hi Joyce!
The red toadstool always reminds me of yule🙂 It is often used as decorations in yule flower arrangements and in our advent candlesticks.

I have no idea how my dogs would react if they actually saw a beaver. THey are quite big after all those beavers🙂🙂 But I doubt we´ll ever get a chance to see it even if nothing happens to it. I have only seen one in my entire life and I had a cottage in “beaver land”🙂

No autumn over at Yours then🙂 92!!! We hardly reach that during summer🙂🙂

Isn´t it typical that they make a mess when You have cleaned the whole guest house?!

Have a great day and rest some before You clean out that mess!
      Christer.

  5. Hi Christer,
Lovely photo of Bertil and also the red mushroom. Most of my neighborhood mushrooms have gone by now. I didn’t see any on my walk this morning.
Yesterday evening I was driving to the shops for a small errand and saw 4 foxes playing in a neighbor’s side yard. They were very close to the road and totally ignoring me. I watched them for 15 minutes and guess where my camera was. At home.
I was surprised to see the beaver bitten tree as I didn’t know you had them. They are not too popular around here either as their dams and ponds flood out people’s property. The owner of my local yarn store took me out back of her shop to show me that the beavers had dammed up the small stream that is right at the foot of her back stairs. Animal control has removed two of them but there are two more that they haven’t managed to catch. Still, I hope your local beaver manages to elude destruction.
Sunny and mid-70F here today. Beautiful first day of September though autumn is still a few weeks away.
Enjoy the rest of your day.

    • Hi Caryn!
It´s now that our mushrooms flourish so this is just the beginning.

I know we have had fox puppies here but I haven´t seen any unfortunately. They sometimes are so curios that they come to say hi eveb if I have dogs with me🙂🙂 But isn´t it typical that we always have our cameras at home when something like that happens!

We have rather many beavers now days and they aren´t to popular amongst landowners here either. One way or the other this one will be gone sooner or later. It would flood the entire area if it succseded to make a dam I´m afraid. But still I wish it could saty🙂

Sunny but not especially warm here today.

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

      Christer.
