Not the best of days.

I must say that I have had better Yule eves. I woke up yesterday morning, went down to the kitchen and drank a glass of milk and then it started. I´ve gotten a stomach flu and it has been nasty.

I felt so cold that I slept all night with all my clothes on and two extra blankets over me. I also forced poor Orvar to sleep next to me all night even if he really thought it was way to warm for him 🙂 Today is the opposite, I feel really hot 🙂 I guess by tomorrow I´ll feel rather normal 🙂 🙂

But I managed to stay up so I could see Donald Duck and his friends on TV 🙂 🙂 That´s the most important thing for many of us during Christmas 🙂 This morning was quite eventful too, I fell down the stairs when I was going to the kitchen. My body was already aching everywhere so I really don´t feel any difference 🙂 🙂

I guess one good thing from this is that I won´t gain any weight this Christmas 🙂 🙂 So far I have managed to eat two sandwiches in total, but thankfully i can drink lots of tea. You know that package I got from Joyce at Octoberfarm? There was a package wrapped in golden paper that I decided to open up at Christmas eve. That helped me a lot yesterday. I thought that I had taken a photograph of it, but I´ll take one by tomorrow instead.

So today I´ll mostly sit still in front of my TV and look at bad movies 🙂 🙂 I don´t know where they find all those films they show at Christmas 🙂 🙂 🙂                                                 I wish You all a good continuing of the Yule!

      Christer.

  2. Hi Christer!
Ohhh what a pity you have a virus!
Glad you know how to see the good side of things. Know that you will not gain weight or have stomach problems, or liver, with all the food this time 🙂
I spent Christmas just fine with my father. I confess I do not like this season. People are frantic, buying buying and eating eating like crazy 🙂 🙂 People end up forgetting that it is the birthday of someone who brought a message of love and peace that has transformed the world. Well … not at all. But there’s always hope after Him:)
So a Merry Christmas, health and peace for you.
    Didi

    • Hi Didi!
It was really a good thing to get that virus come to think of it 🙂 🙂 🙂

Yes this time of year is a buying frenzy but I don´t participate in it. I stopped buying christmas presents when all children in the family had grown up.

      Have a Good Yule!
      Christer.

  3. hi christer…happy yule!!! so sorry to hear you are sick and glad to hear the tea has helped a bit! we got snow so we are thrilled to have a white christmas! feel better soon. joyce

    • Hi Joyce!
      Happy Yule!
I was out of tea and You can imagine how great it was to open that package 🙂 Thank You! I´m just about to have cranberry tea for the first time in my life 🙂

      I´m already feeling better 🙂

      Have a great day now!
      Christer.

    • Hi Robin!
It seems I have a tendency to get sick during Christmas 🙂 🙂 Twice I have had food poisoning 🙂 🙂
I´m already feeling better thankfully 🙂
      Have a continuing good Yule!
      Christer.

  4. You sound as though you have a pretty high fever, too, Christer! You be careful going up and down those stairs. Stay bundled up in front of the TV, watching those old movies, and add some lemon and honey to your tea. (a little spirits would be very helpful, too, if you prefer). I love the pix ‘On the way home again’ with that little triangle of color to brighten up the cold! And, (although I’m sure you planned it!) did you notice that it is almost exactly on the golden mean? Just askin’

Take care and try to have as merry a holiday as you can, under the circumstances. So glad you got to watch Donald Duck and share in the communal viewing…

    • Hi Sharlene!
I must have had around 106 degrees yesterday, because I always starts to shake that much when I reach that fever. Today it´s much lower and it will probably be gone tomorrow.

I like that photo too, but I have to admit that I never plan anything when I take a photo and I never noticed that triangle at all 🙂 🙂 🙂

      Have a Good Yule!
      Christer.

  5. Hi Christer,
Well that’s a lousy way to spend Christmas. As for the bad movies, I think it has to do with how many runs the station has left on a particular thing. If it’s really bad, they probably bought a lot of runs for a really low price or it came in a package with programs they really wanted. They show the crappy pics on days when they know very few people will be watching. They figure they’re not getting audience exposure for advertising anyway so it doesn’t matter.
I took my dog 25 miles up to Newburyport harbor this morning and got a lot of photos of cold water and fishing boats. It was fun but then I wanted coffee and, of course, nothing was open because its Christmas so we came home again. It was nice to walk along the quay because no one else was out there. Normally it’s crowded with people and other dogs but today we were pretty much alone.
Love the photo of the dogs running down the road. The first photo is interesting because of the farm implement covered in snow and there’s a bit of something that looks like Christmas light or a star shaped light in the upper part of the window.
Get better. Have some tea and rest and get ready for your vacation.

    • Hi Caryn!
I remember two christmases when I had food poisoning and they were worse 🙂 🙂 But I´m getting better by the hour now.

You´re probably right about the bad tv programs. But if the film is bad in the right way they can be hilarious 🙂 🙂 None of these has been bad in the right way yet though 🙂 🙂 🙂

I would have loved to go to the harbor at christmas 🙂 I love to go to any harbor anytime to be honest. But the closest one (by the ocean) is over 90 miles away. But there are harbors in our biggest lake that is a bit closer of course.

I really like the first photo! The star You se is what we call the Advent star. We put it up in our windows first of advent.

I have had plenty of tea today and even if I´m getting better fast I can´t but rest 🙂 🙂

      Have a great Yule Day!
      Christer.

  6. Maybe stomach poison. Check what you ate the previous three days. Hope you didn’t bite down on anything Joyce sent you. Poor old JOyce will never forgive herself. Well, I knew we missed hearing from you which is unusual. So I suspected you were traveling or sick with something. So glad you feel better and happy Yule. We celebrated to the point where I dropped off to nap. Too many kids with toys and noise makers. But the food, I have to say, was wonderful. Even my shrimp boats, shrimp mixed with tomatoe stuffed in cut out cucumber slices, were all absorbed. I ended up watching the 9th in the series Ancient Aliens which always gets my attention. The 2nd part is tonight so I won’t miss it either, all the kids have gone home. Yay! for me.

    • Hi Z&M!
No I don´t think it was food poisoning. I´ve had that on two previous christmases and they were actually worse than this was, even if this wasn´t a dance on roses 🙂 🙂 🙂 and one person at work that I sat beside and ate my breakfast sems to have gotten it the day before me. There are plenty of different stomach flus going around here now, so I´m sure it´s one of them.

      That shrimp boat sounds delicious!

I still haven´t seen that series for sale over here, but I guess it will come when any channel has shown it on TV.

Have a good continuing of Yule!
      Christer.

  7. Happy Yule to you, Christer… and I well and truly hope you’re on the road to recovery now.
Isn’t it just the way when you’re on a holiday break from work ?
We always seem to get sick then…more than any other time, I think!

Stay warm, keep drinking that tea, and please take care of yourself! No more falling down the stairs – you hear me? 😉
    *healthy hugs*

    • Hi Kate!
I´m already feeling much better and You are so right, I always gets something when holidays or vacation starts 🙂 🙂 🙂 It´s the Curse of Vacation that hits me (that could be a great movie title) 🙂 🙂 🙂

I will try not to fall down the stairs again, but I did actually fall on the stairs on my way in yesterday, but fell in half a meter deep snow 🙂 🙂 🙂 It was actually quite pleasant 🙂 🙂

Have a good continuing of Yule!
      Christer.

  8. Good Grief, Christer! I ‘m glad you didn’t break anything when you fell. Being ill on Christmas is no fun.
I thought you did include something in your photo’s because I thought you said that Joyce had sent you something wrapped and that you were going to save it for Christmas.
We just got home a shot time ago. Brunch at one daughters home at 10 and dinner at 4 at the other. Now I am so full…and ..not only that last night we had dinner at husand’s son’s home and I overate there…It was an after church dinner and so late and we were so tired that I didn’t get to bed until very late due to last minute chores for this morning. I fell into bed at midnight…work up and rushed this morning..so tomorrow…I will do NOTHING, WRAP NOTHING, COOK NOTHING and snuggle down in bed and watch movies and sip my coffee with vanilla creamer in it. It’s going to be a wonderful day, I hope. I always just hope as one never knows. 🙂
Get well, Christer..and be sure and tell us what was in Joyce’s package!
    Mona

    • Hi Mona!
I did get a bit worried about my hip when I had fallen, but it seems fine. I forgot to take a photo of the last thing in the package from Joyce, but it comes today instead.

You seems to have had a full Christmas 🙂 🙂 🙂 and I think Your plans for today is great !

Have a good continuing of Yule!
      Christer.

  9. Oh! I’m so sorry to hear that you were sick and THEN you fell down the stairs! I took a bad tumble a couple of years ago, down my basement stairs. I twisted my knee up really bad and scraped the heck out of myself against the cement wall. I don’t know what scared me most at the time, the pain or the thought that I could lay there for a long time before anyone came looking for me! My cats came running of course and then the dogs came when I started crying…feeling sorry for myself! So I hobbled back upstairs feeling pretty upset. So I know how a fall like that can upset someone emotional, as well as hurt physically. So please be careful! (Or teach the dogs how to dial 911) do you have 911 over there? or some sort of emergency phone number to call! Or maybe just teach them to bring you your cell phone! Ha!
    Anyway…Take care! – Cindi

    • Hi Cindi!
Well, I survived so I guess this is one of those memories one laughs at in the future 🙂 🙂 🙂 Oddly enough I seldom hurt myself especially much when I fall down the stairs and I usually do that once or twice a year. I just have to hold my thumbs for luck that it continues that way 🙂 Only once I injured myself and that is a story well worth telling 🙂 I do try to always have my mobile phone with me now days, my dogs would only drool to much on it if they had to fetch it 🙂 🙂 🙂

I´m glad nothing worse happened when You fell. I know my body will get worse by the years so I´m already planning one of those elevator chairs that can transport me upstairs in the future 🙂 🙂

Have a good continuing of Yule!
      Christer.

  10. Hejsan Christer!

      Christer.

  11. Hello Christer
Sad that you have been sick at Yule.
But I hope he gets well soon!
Here we had a pretty good Yule, and less than half the people, I confess I was much better! heheheheeh
I love the Yule feast, pity you can not do in my house, but one day I can. (it’s always on my mother, who is super busy, it seems an atomic ant hehehehehe

    • Hi Andréa!
      I have had better Yule´s 🙂 🙂 🙂 But I´m already feeling much better 🙂
I´m glad Your holiday was good 🙂
Yes Google translates really strange sometimes 🙂 🙂 🙂

Have a great continuing of Yule!
      Christer.
