Sunshine and animals.

We have changed back to normal time again this night and naturally one would think this means I could sleep one hour longer. Not me though, I woke up 04:15 instead 🙂 🙂 🙂 I could of course stayed in bed for a couple of hours more, but I know I´ll feel like dead later on if I do. So I got up and started a fire in the stove and we all had breakfast.

It´s another wonderful morning, much like yesterday but with sunshine too 🙂 The suns first beams broke through just after we had come home from our morning walk. We saw several deers and a huge flock of geese (over one hundred birds) flying south. I could see smaller flocks too that joined the bigger one just before they got out of sight. Except for the sounds the geese and other birds gave away it was totally silent. I love these mornings.

I saw this funny video clip on Face Book that must have been over a year old. It was from the Daily Show showing american politicians and economics Sweden more or less was a Socialist country (I think this was before the health care reform in the US) and Sweden really were terrible 🙂 🙂 🙂 So The Daily Show had sent a reporter over to us to compare 🙂 🙂 This little video clip made me wonder, what Do You all actually know about this little country way up north? If You have any questions just ask and I´ll answer as good as I possibly can.

If You click on this photo it´ll be bigger and You can see the doe so much better. She really don´t care about us any longer, only slowly strolls away when we come to close 🙂

I had bought some bulbs a couple of weeks ago and finally I did plant them yesterday afternoon. I have to admit that planting bulbs is one of the most boring things I know 🙂 🙂 perhaps because I won´t see any result until next year. For some reason I had bought lilies even if I know the lily bugs will start to eat them as soon as they show themselves above the ground. I can show You photos of what I planted in tomorrows blog when I once again have the right speed on my internet connection.

I promised You all to show my shaved head and here it is 🙂 Even though I hadn´t painted anything for over a week I still had powder paint on my scull. It is hard to remove when I have longer hair than two inches. I´m really glad that I have a rather even scull with few bumps 🙂

Today I think I´ll dig down some small tree and bush sowings I have in the ground somewhere in my garden. Some are from North America and aren´t that hardy here so they will feel better next year if they don´t have to survive yet a winter in pots above the ground. The weather will stay this sunny and warm until the evening 🙂 Now I´ll only have to figure out where to dig them down. All these big problems I have 🙂 🙂 🙂               Have a great day now!

      Christer.

  2. Glad you got sun today!
The silence of the morning is my favorite time too. Here I am hearing only the sound of the sea and birds:)
You talked about the video but did not pass the link. But I can imagine the nonsense that one can speak of a country that is not known. Some people think of Brazil as a strange country where everyone dances in a bikini all the time 🙂
Last year three German tourists were arrested here at the airport of Salvador.
They disembarked and stood naked in the forecourt of the airport to change clothes. And they said that they thought they could do it, because in Brazil everyone go naked.
These tourists had time to think about prejudice and ignorance while still in jail 🙂
What I know about Sweden and Swedes living with some friends … well I think they are kind, polite, very funny. But you can not say it to him because they are shy 🙂

    enjoy your sunny day
    kiss

    Didi

    • Hi Didi!
The sound of sea and birds are the best ones 🙂
I just couldn´t get the link no matter how I tried. I saw it on FaceBook but couldn´t reach the place it came from. But if I find it I´ll post it!

So they actually thought they could go naked 🙂 🙂 🙂 Perhaps I know better since I had a friend that had lived in Brazil, but I have never thought one could change clothes in the forecourt 🙂 🙂 🙂

Yes we are rather shy and really can´t take praise from others. It almost hurts inside then 🙂 Usually we are kind, like most other people 🙂 But it is said that it is hard to make us open up towards strangers.

      Have a great day now!
      Christer.

  3. Hi again!
Christer sometimes I think that the relationship with the Swedes can become a little strange. I learned to always praise when I see something good in person.
I like to make the person feel good, feel valued, is a form of affection.
But if it makes the person suffer … I’ll have to stop doing that 🙂
Can you tell me what kind of gesture of affection that is more acceptable? I really am a bit lost in the relationship with them.
Ahh yes Facebook sometimes leaves me lost too 🙂
    kiss
(Hmm now I think that sending kisses to a Swede is not a good idea. Despite being a common way to treat people with whom one has sympathy here in Brazil. It’s better if you let me explain some things lol)
    Didi

    • Hi Didi!
      Don´t worry 🙂 I´m used to most things 🙂 🙂
We are a bit strange to be honest 🙂 🙂 I´ve been thinking what we say if we think someone has done something good and I can only think of “well done” or “good work” 🙂 🙂 unless we know each other really good. It´s not that we don´t think others do great things, we are just not used to tell each other that 🙂 I think it all has to do with “Jantes Laws” It tales some time to explain what that is, but You can look it up on Wikipedia

I have found an address so I´ll post it tomorrow!

You can send kisses and we´ll think that it´s very exotic and send a “have a great day” back 🙂
      Christer.

  4. Thanks for another nice desktop that first photo now replaces my halloween one. Your day looks nicer than mine here we have overcast skys and more rain expected. You should be more comfortable in your new haircut . Alicemary says hi and I say keep on bloggin and enjoy your tea(:>)

    • Hi Woody!
      You´re welcome 🙂

It is a wonderful day over here, the sun is shining and it´s fairly warm too 🙂
This haircut will make life much easier. Now I onlu have to put my head under a tap and I´ll be clean 🙂
Say Hi to Alicemary from me too!
      Have a great day!
      Olof.

  5. Oops! I’m reading how it almost hurts for you to take a compliment and yet I feel the need to send one your way whenever I see your photos! LOL! Sorry but I can’t stop.
It surprises me that a whole country of people can share a personality trait…being shy and reserved. I guess that’s because I live in the US and it seems to be a huge mix of everything! I would hate to be grouped in with that ugly American image that you see in the movies where they are loud and rude and wear sweatsuits and try to tell the cook/chef how to prepare their food. Yes, I live in a nation full of Walmart people eating fried food for a diet but I’m mortified that people in other countries could think we are all like that. I live in the Quad Cities which is actaully made up of 5 towns rather than 4…?! LONG STORY, anyway- each town has a different “feel” or vibe to it. I’m glad that I live in Rock Island because this town is more eclectic and has more laid back city rules…anyway I’m rambling….
Take care! Enjoy the beautiful day and I think you need a cap to protect your bald head from the cold….could you wear one at work to protect your scalp?
    🙂 Cindi

    • Hi Cindi!
I´ll survive 🙂 Woody and his wife Alicemary has taught me to take good compliments 🙂

It´s actually a common thing between all Scandinavian countries. It has to do with something called Jantes Laws (the link goes to Wikipedia). The grip of those rules is loosing up now because we have so many immigrants here that have totally different ideas and that is something I´m grateful for 🙂
Naturally there is diversity here too.

That is unfortunately the way many europeans look upon americans. Especially those that are even worse over here 🙂 🙂 🙂 Most people doesn´t understand that the US is almost as big as europe and we really don´t look upon our selves as very similar in this continent 🙂 I do however do my best to trell them that it´s not how all people in the US are like.

I´ll have a cap when going to work and home again. It´s a bit too cold most mornings to be without one 🙂

      Have a great day now!
      Christer.

  6. I see on our news that they made some arrests of the bomber plot in Sweden. That is good news. Wow, what a closeup of your new hair style! Here, when I plant bulbs I have to constantly chase squirrels, who enjoy digging up and dragging away the bulbs. Enjoy your sunshine while it lasts!

    • Hi Robin!
Yes they have but they ask people to be aware today too. They don´t know if they have taken all involved or right people at all 🙂 🙂

The squirrels are to far from my garden 🙂 Like all Swedes they are a bit shy 🙂 But I´ll have to worry about the deers and hogs instead 🙂
I´m just about to go for a walk in the last sunshine for today 🙂

      Have a great day now!
      Christer.

  7. I only remember men and men’s magazines here going ga ga over the Swedish women. They started the blond blue eyes thing and of course curvy figure syndrome in this country about the time men’s magazines were getting loose with sexy photos. Other than that, what I learn about your country is here on this blog. I did see where some Vikings buried treasure there on the History channel and the government refuses accredited archeologists to dig where the maps lead. Funny country in that respect. Is that Bertil hiding in the grass? Great shot. The first one has a nice feel to it too.

Big week here in the States for mid term elections. I already voted. Enjoy your wonderful sunrise.

    • Hi Z&M!
Sweden is a small country on the outskirts of Europe so it´s amazing that any one knows anything about us outside of Europe 🙂 But Volvo is a swedish car and the most common brand in the country (Saab is also swedish). The Nobel prize is rather known of course. In music we have Abba, Roxette and nowdays Robyn. Once upon a time Sweden was a super power in Europe and we have only had one colony,S:t Barthélemy was sold to France. Well we had New Sweden (placed by the bay and river Delaware) too but the dutch took that away from us 🙂 🙂 🙂 We have never allowed slavery but never minded if others allowed it. Two swedish americans improved the zipper so much that some look upon them as the real creators of it, even though it did exist before. I think that is all that is worth knowing about us 🙂 🙂 🙂

Good luck in the mid term elections!
      Christer.

    • Hi Jim!
Thanks 🙂 We do live in the outskirts of Europe so it´s not easy to know anything about us really.
It is rather beautiful here, but our winters are to long and dark for my taste 🙂

      Have a great day now!
      Christer.

  8. Exotic? lol lol lol
I think I understand the spirit of the thing 🙂
Well .. if to show appreciation and affection is exotic, I like to be exotic 🙂
kiss for you and yours boys
    and have a great day!
    🙂
    Didi

  9. Hello Christer
    Heheheeheh
    This conversation is so funny!
We Brazilians are very playful, and make fun of all!
So do not take this wrong I will say:
How I like you and do not want you to feel more pain ……. not compliment your photos! Hahahahaah’ll say instead, they are horrible! hehehehehe
Very ugly, I hate to see your pictures! heheheheheeh So you know what I mean eh! hehehehehe
    Just kidding
I hope you have a bad day today
    hheheheheheeh
    Andréa

    • Hi Andrea!
It´s actually easier to take criticism to be honest 🙂 Then I can defend what I do if I would like to, but most probably I would agree with You 🙂 🙂 If You say something nice about something a Swede has done, we most probably tell You that we´ve been lucky or show You something that didn´t turn out especially well 🙂 I know it it´s strange for most people, but that´s how we are 🙂 But the younger generations are changing thank Good!

      Have a wonderful day now!
      Christer.

  10. Yeah, but then also, I think the new generation, worldwide, is very egocentric, and they alone are right and that is bad!
So I think moderation is best.
In spite of you having this form of culture (rather rigid), I think is even better than vanity and egotism in execesso! This leads to the youth not to look at the neighbor as a friend, but always with a potential competitor.
I think it destroys the respect!

    But back to your photos:
I loved the deer! Or rather, I found it very ugly! Heheheheheheh

  11. Hi Christer,
How about a trade? I’ll go over there and plant your bulbs and you can come over here and fill my horsehair plaster wall divots. 🙂

Regarding compliments; it’s a little bit culture and a little bit personality. It took me about 50 years to learn to accept a compliment gracefully and to believe that I was really worthy of it. Well, most of the time, anyway.

Your stump is not just another stump; it is a stump with personality. The two branches reaching out seem to say “Hug me”.

    Have a great day.

    • Hi Caryn!
Sounds like a great trade to me 🙂
I know what You mean about compliments. That´s the way with most Swedes Im afraid 🙂 🙂

      Have a great day too!
      Christer.

  12. Hi Christer, catching up from a weekend away from the computer and after reading your post and seeing you shaved head wondered…won’t you feel even colder now that you have shaved it? Glad you were feeling in such a great mood – sunshine always does that for me too. And, we had plenty of it this Sat and Sun so we went out and enjoyed ourselves because this week it’s back to chores and supposed to rain for 2 days later in the week. I was rather in a bad mood last night because of some problem, but this morning things are looking much better and the week should be fine too. Have a great week!

    • Hi Beatrice!
Yes, sunshine always give me a better mood 🙂 We just have to little of it here during winter (and for the rest of the year too 🙂 🙂 🙂 )

I have a cap on now, so I won´t freeze no matter how cold it gets 🙂 It´s bright yellow and can be seen from great distances 🙂 🙂 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.
