A bit chilly.

My cottage feels a bit chilly because I had my bedroom windows open during the night. We went up at 3:30 am so the dogs (especially Sune) could do their business and then we went to bed again. It was so cold that all dogs wanted to join me in bed 🙂 I couldn’t fall asleep again so I went downstairs and looked at the thermometer.

I’m sad to say that I wasn’t surprised to see that it was rather cold, only 3,5 C (38,3 F). It is way to early to have those temperatures yet. I actually think it had been even colder out by the fields, our breaths came out as thick smoke 🙂 🙂 But there are great advantages having these cold mornings too, the grass will grow much slower and flies will end their season earlier. Mosquitoes however doesn’t seem to care about that.

I’m going to the plant swapping day later and even if I have lots of plants I can bring I do have a small problem. The Magpies have removed all name tags and many of the plants look alike while being small 🙂 🙂 🙂 I do know a few of them so those I’ll bring but I’m not sure what to do with the rest. I guess I’ll have to make a new flowerbed and plant everything there and see what they’ll become next summer 🙂

Like always there were no sign of life in any of the homes I passed this morning but still I could feel the small of newly baked bread. I guess someone has one of those baking machines that was so popular years ago. I’ve seen they still sell them but I don’t know a single person that owns one. I did once however but one morning they woke up and went down to the kitchen just to see that the machine was burning, they never got a new one 🙂 🙂

It’s time for some breakfast for me as well, not newly baked bread though even if I could make some scones. Perhaps  I should, warm scones with cheese and jam is rather nice 🙂

Have a great day!

  1. Vackra – dock kyliga – bilder som vanligt! Och glad valp – som vanligt!! 🙂

      Christer.

  2. I have one of those bread machines…at least today I do, maybe I will take it to Goodwill. 😀
I’ve used it twice. The first time I made a mistake and the bread wasn’t good and then second time is was great but I realized I could just buy some bread for the same price. Yep, I will probably be de-cluttering that too! 😀 😀 😀
It was much cooler here too. This morning in the high 50’s and fo the day, it will be just under 80! and I am Happy!
Sune looks like he’s making the old boys feel young again!
    😀 – Cindi

    • Hi Cindi!

I think that was the reason most peoples stopped using those machines, it could even be cheaper to buy the bread 🙂

We were supposed to have sunshine all day but it only lasted half the day, but I’m happy as long as it doesn’t rain 🙂

I think that at least Hector feels a bit younger sometimes anyway 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

    • Hi Joyce!

Congratulations to the cooler weather and soon You’ll have a hot water tank as well 🙂 I can imagine how happy You are to get hot water again 🙂

      Have a great day!

      Christer.

  4. Rotten magpies stealing the nametags!! The very thick spider web photo is awesome, must be a pretty big spider. Have fun at the plant swap!

    • Hi Robin!

Well that’s just how magpies are 🙂 They are usually so fun that I forgive them for stealing my name tags 🙂

That web was actually quite small 🙂 I had to go real close 🙂

It’s always fun at these plant swaps 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  5. wow, thats a chilly morning, its cooler here but not that cool, the dogs look beautiful this morning, you will be in for a surprise when your flowers come up,
There is nothing so good as the smell of bread baking, we were given a bread machine, we used it to mix the dough a few times but never cooked in it.We gave it to our daughter and she uses it all the time, she cooks bread in it and she said it works great.I prefer to make it the old way, its a very relaxing job that I enjoy, I make a loaf every four days, just small loaf now, as the children are on their own we don’t need as much bread. We would rather make a small loaf more often, we like it fresh and i have all the time in the world.I have always made our bread and my mother and grand mother did as well. Its just the way we were raised. Its a job I like.Have a great day!!Enjoy the end of the Olympics, looks like we will be in for a treat, they say the closing ceremonies will be amazing!

    • Hi Laurie!

It is a bit to early to have it this cold in the morning, but tonight is cloudy so I guess it’ll be warmer tomorrow morning.

I bake my own bread all winter, I always have a fire in the stove so I might as well bake when I can. I rarely do it in summer though, it never gets as good in the electric stove as in the fire heated.

Yes I’ve heard that so I hope it isn’t too late, I must go up at 4:40 am on Monday 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  6. Hi Christer,
I had a bread machine for years and used it all the time. I had to pack a bunch of stuff away so the bread machine went into its box and out into the back hall. When I finally got around to pulling it out I discovered that mice had been having a great time inside the box and the machine. Out it went and I never got around to replacing it.

Hard to pick a favorite photo today but maybe # 8 or # 9. I like the colors of the sky and the drifting ground fog. The shaggy ponies are too far away. 🙂

All these black dogs with white patches! They all look like they had at least one parent in common. 🙂 Sune might not be getting taller but he must be getting longer. He looks as though he covers a fair amount of ground when he runs.

It’s hot here but I mowed part of the lawn myself with the cordless electric mower. My neighbor came over and mowed another small part of the lawn because he wanted to try it out. Then I thought I might keep going until the mower ran down just to see how much lawn I could get done on one charge. It was too hot and I lost energy long before the mower did. 🙂

    Enjoy the day!

    • Hi Caryn!

It’s never nice to know that mice have had a party in something made for food 🙂 🙂 🙂 It would be nice to have a newly baked, still warm sandwich for breakfast in the morning 🙂 Perhaps I’ll buy a machine if I ever see one again.

I think I like the one before the horses best today. I like the thick layer of fog high above the ground.

It is strange that I tend to have the same colors and patterns on my dogs 🙂 🙂 🙂 Orvar is almost completely black though, he has two white hairs on his chest and that’s it 🙂

Yes Sune is getting longer, so much that I notice it 🙂 I guess he must be higher as well but that’s harder to see 🙂 He reaches so many new places now so I must think where I place things 🙂

Not fun mowing the lawn on a hot day! The flies here always drive me crazy! What happened to Your new lawn mower guy? Has he given up already 🙂 ?

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

      • The new lawn mower guy has not given up but his idea of regular mowing is very irregular. The extremely shaggy grass near the walkways and driveway finally got to me today so I went out and mowed it. My neighbor played with the cordless mower in my small side yard. He can play with it any time. 🙂

If you have a slow cooker (aka crockpot), you can do bread in that overnight. I have never done it but a friend of mine does all the time. He uses frozen bread dough from the supermarket. If you google crockpot bread, you’ll probably come up with some better recipes.

      • Yes let him play if he wants to 🙂 🙂

I’ve just learned that there is something called slow cooker 🙂 I’m trying to find one in any store over here but so far no luck.

        Christer.

  7. Christer,
The picture with the ground fog is my favorite. It is beautiful. I’d have to choose the spiders’ webs next-great shots.

All the dogs in your bed? I have trouble with Gracie and Fern hogging room-couldn’t imagine 4 dogs. Gracie sprawls and takes more than half the bed. I wake up cramped.

The sun poked in and out today but it was mostly cloudy and damp.

    • Hi Kat!

It is a bit crowded but warm and nice 🙂 They really have to cooperate if all will fit in my bed so they do 🙂

We had sunshine till around noon and then trhe clouds covered the sky and still do.

      Have a great day!
      Christer.
