We’ve been to the vet.
Thunder is approaching, I just heard the first rumble and it was quite close. I would have guessed that we might get some rain but not thunder, the flies aren’t crazy like they usually are before it arrives. But on the other hand, they have been crazy many times when I’ve thought we would get thunder but it never arrived
It has been a rather nice morning and day here so far. Lots of clouds and lots of sunshine. When the sun shines it’s hot and when the clouds cover the sky it’s cold
Not strange that we’re getting thunder after all
We’ve been to the vet this morning and all dogs have gotten their shots. I never actually met the vet, he’s not needed for shots so it was one of the care takers that did that instead (is that what they are called? I don’t think we call them nurse when it comes to animals). We talked about Sune’s worried stomach and I got some kind of paste that I will give him at least three days, more if the stomach doesn’t settle. It helps the stomach to keep up the bacteria flora until it isn’t needed any longer. Smells like meat and is said to taste like it too, Sune liked it anyway
I had to put petrol in my car on our way home and I always get depressed when I see what they charge for it
Now it costs 14,88 kr/ liter, that is around $ 7,82/ gallon. I do wish we had the petrol prices You do in the USA, I actually would enjoy filling up my car if we had
it would feel as it almost was for free
Thankfully my car doesn’t drink like an alcoholic so I can drive rather far on those liters I got.

But then I started to think some
Perhaps it would work to leash Nova to Orvar? If she see any hares she won’t get especially far with him leashed to her. He would refuse to follow and get grumpy. When Orvar gets grumpy he sits down and nothing can move him
He is also the only dog Nova shows respect for.

It actually looked like this a few times. But mostly they couldn’t agree on who would go where
But I will continue this!
I had to re-pot my two peach trees I have, they looked a bit sad and the soil dried out quickly even if it has been raining all the time. It turned out that small black ants had built nests in those pots
They normally do if the pots are standing on the ground and most plants doesn’t like it. Geraniums (pelargoniums) doesn’t mind though. They originally comes from very dry climate and likes it when the soil dries up quickly. My geraniums look very healthy so I guess there are ant nests in those too. I must get rid of them before placing those pots in my cool cellar during winter, ants do a lot of good things in nature but they are no good pets in an old cottage

She also helps raising him, when ever he gets too far she tells him in not so many words that she is the Queen of the Universe ![]()

Himalayan impatiens is a weed here. It even kills strong weeds like stinging nettles and thistles. But the impatiens is annual so it is rather easy to get rid of it if one wants to.

My re-potted peach trees. They might possibly survive in this climate but I’m not taking any chances with them. Now it’s almost two years since I sowed them and with a lot of luck they might flower for the first time next year.
The rain has started to fall so I guess the thunder-storm is closing in and I better end this now.

what a great idea for ova! i bet this wil work. it is so cute to see nova and sune playing together. there was just a horrible shooting here in colorado. at the premiere of the dark knight. 14 dead and 50 wounded. unreal! joyce
Hi Joyce!
I’m not so sure Orvar likes that idea though
I thought why not try it
I read about that shooting just after writing this post! They took him alive I read, not that it will help those killed, injured or their families.
Christer.
Hi Christer,
I was wondering when you would figure out to leash Nova to someone other than yourself.
The vet assistants are usually called technicians, I think. Or assistants.
Now that you mention it, I have never heard of a veterinary nurse but there must be some. I don’t see a big veterinary hospital being staffed with nothing but veterinarians. Anyway, I hope the paste helps Sune get over his tummy troubles. Do you think it might be because he isn’t used to your dog food yet?
That webless spider is a crab spider. We have them. They don’t need webs as they lie in wait for unsuspecting insects to land on the flower and then they jump out and snag them. I read somewhere that they are usually the color of the flower they are in but I have only seen yellow ones on yellow flowers and white ones on other color flowers.
What is that lovely butterfly? Very strong orange color and beautifully shaped wings.
Dull day today. Maybe some sun later. I don’t think it’s going to rain, though. It’s cool and that is enough for me.
Enjoy the day!
Hi Caryn!
We just call them animal care takers, sounds as if they have no education but they do.
I too hope this will help his stomach. I think it was the treats he got when ever he did something he should outside. They were just too strong for a puppy. But he was rather ok this morning so I hope this will help to make him better.
We call them crab spiders too. I have seen a white one once but usually they are yellow here too, even on red flowers
I think that butterfly is the one we call White spotted golden wing (vitfläckig guldvinge). The white spots are on the outside of the wings. It is my favorite butterfly and I look forward to see it every summer
Thunder and rain comes now and again and in between some sunshine.
Have a great day!
Christer.
it always amazes me the way a family with several dogs sets the lines of order, they determine their own pecking order, its not hard to see whose boss in your family.I love that the older dogs are caring for the pup, its the way it should be isn’t it.Your gas prices are so high , wow, hope the pup’s belly soon feels well.
Hi Laurie!
Yes they always figure out themselves where they are in rank, that was why I wanted a puppy this time so it became natural for it. But I did have to girls that never could agree who the boss was, every year they had one big fight and blood flooded. After that they stayed calm for an entire year
Yes our petrol prices are painful! But modern cars doesn’t use that much now days thankfully. Otherwise I wouldn’t be able to afford driving to work every day
I hope so too
Have a great day!
Christer.
Christer.
Nova and Orvar leashed together..brilliant! Though how does Orvar feel about that? Enjoyed these photos. I hope the peach trees like their new pots!
Hi Robin!
But he is the one that will stop Nova from doing stupid things
I’m not sure Orvar likes that idea especially much
I think the peach trees are happy to get rid of those ants anyway
Have a great day!
Christer.

Typiskt men väldigt skönt!!

Christer.
Christer,
I think they’re technicians. My vet’s office has several of them. I often see them walking a dog on the grass around the parking lot. I figure they’re dogs out of cages for a while.
Gracie would have Sune running so fast his little legs wouldn’t keep up. I think that’s wonderful way to continue training Nova. She is doing so much better not, but keeping her in check isn’t a bad idea. Who knows when she’d see a rabbit.
I hope Sune’s stomach settles down!
Hi Kat!
Technicians sounds better than care takers to be honest
This place doesn’t have animals over night, so I never see anyone walk any dogs outside the vet office. They have the philosophy that a pet heals better when it is at home and I agree with them. So we get what we need so we can take care of our pets at home instead even after surgery. If it is a very serious case we do have a big animal hospital not far away.
It didn’t work that great today though
Orvar got grumpy and suddenly he didn’t understand a thing I told him
I would have had more patients if we hadn’t been in the forest, attacked by zillions of mosquitoes and a thunderstorm approaching rather fast
He’s not a happy camper at the moment, nor is Hector that also suddenly didn’t understand much of what I said
It looks as if it does settle down now
Have a great day!
Christer.
Brilliant thinking. Just brilliant. Wish I had thought of that when I had multiple dogs. I’m delighted they were able to take that man alive. So many of them kill innocent people and then themselves, so they never have to pay for what they do. Maybe, this time, it will be different. Shouldn’t be able to plead insanity since he came well-armed… Oh, guess what?! I’m going to be interviewed for a local TV station about my solar oven and the cookout on Monday. It will be on TV on Tuesday morning and evening news. I will try to get a copy and post it on my blog or YouTube so you can see. I’ve never been interviewed, before, so this is a great chance to make a total fool of myself.
Hi Sharlene!
But when it works it’s perfect
It isn’t brilliant when Orvar gets grumpy and refuse to remember anything he’s been taught during the years. He just sist down and refuse to do anything while mosquitoes, horseflies (and our relatives to Your green head flies) bites us all the time at the same time a huge thunderstorm is approaching quickly
Unfortunately him paying for what he has done doesn’t bring back those he killed. But by studying him and listening to his explanations might help stop something like this happening again. Unfortunately they most likely won’t study him so nothing will be learned to prevent things like this in the future. But I think it is a mistake saying he can’t be insane just because he has planned this very carefully.
How exiting! I do hope You can put it either in Your blog or on You tube! But You won’t make a fool of Yourself! I promise! It isn’t that bad getting interviewed, just relax and be Yourself and remember to breath
I,m looking forward to see You in that interview!
Christer.
You made me choke on those outrageous gas prices. I would have to get a horse. Ours go from $3.09 a gallon to $3.19 so far this summer. But we run errands on one day and get them all done so we don’t use the car to do them one at a time. The white spider confused me. Glad you wrote something. I’m still wondering where that breed would come from. What is the spider’s color keeping her safe from? Interesting. Cows look content, good post today.
Hi Z&M!
That’s why most of us have relatively small cars that doesn’t use a lot of petrol. I always plan my driving so I never drive unnecessary. I do all my grocery shopping on my way home from work, well I do all my shopping on my way home from work actually. It’s just now during vacation that doesn’t work
It’s the same all over Europe I’m afraid and we’re not even worse
The spider is usually safe from predators but most insects can’t see it when it has the same color as the flower so it will catch lots of insects even in it is visible for our eyes.
Have a great day!
Christer.
Brilliant idea of hooking Nova and Orvar together!
I got gas the other day at $3.25 a gallon, that’s the lowest that it’s been for a long time around here.
At our vet clinic and all the others around here, there are vet assistants AND technicians. Assistants do just that, they assist the Vets and technicians by helping holding animals, weighing them. collecting fecal/urine samples. The technicians are cerified and have taken State Board tests. They give shots and assist in surgeries and more advanced duties AND they are paid a whole lot MORE! At our clinic, the vet always sees the client and the pet unless they are over-booked and it’s something like a routine vaccinations or a blood draw. So if they are backed up and the client chooses to just see the technician, they are not charged for the office visit just for whatever they received. An animal care taker at our clinic is usually the boarding staff.
anyway! love the photos, the bird one…what’s underneath? hanging on the fence?
The cow ones are so cool and I of course love all the dog ones.
Right now they are showing a special program on TV that’s all about the shooting.
It makes me sick to think about it. My nieces LOVE Batman and went to the Midnight show last night.
I can’t even let my mind go there, thinking about the crazy people out there.
Hi Cindi!
But we’ll keep on practicing, sooner or later Orvar will accept this, I hope
Brilliant if it works, otherwise just crap
I think these (what I call animal care takers) helps with everything at this clinic and they all have special education for that. You do have a very hierarchic system compared to us. They’ve tried to break down that in most work places here.
Really interesting to see how different things works at similar workplaces!
There’s really no use for a vet to give vaccinations and the price is the same anyway. But if I would ask the vet to check something else there might be an extra cost for that, but not always
Terrible what happened! I can’t understand how people like that think, how they can sort of justify their actions to themselves. It’s the same with the Norwegian man that killed 77 people one year ago tomorrow. I’m pretty sure he is insane but that doesn’t mean he can’t take responsibility for what he has done, it’¨s the same with that man yesterday.
Anyway, have a great day!
Christer.
